Door Decor (Toran) Completed:
Fig 1

Hi friends,
Wow! apart from all this busy schedule, I completed this Door Decor (Toran). After a long time I have done this Tunisian crochet project.

Because cross stitch design goes very well with Tunisian crochet, so I decided to make some thing and have a cross stitch design on that. The yarn I had, was quite bulky so I decided to make Toran. It was wonderful experience to work with Tunisian crochet hook newly.

I started with 20 sts for 6" width then went on doing to and fro Tunisian simple stitch till the length became 3 ft with white Caron Bulky Yarn.

Now my search went on for cross stitch alphabets for writing WELCOME. But my requirements (about height of the letters) and my liking didn't give me any design (though there are so many online). So I decided to have my own as per my requirement and here I tried (fig 2).

Fig 2
Took one note book with small crosses on that
Fig 3
like graph and had some letters on that. I thought that M is not necessary because just flip W and we get M, then E is already there. So now all set for cross stitch embroidery but when I made it. That O looked slim compare to other letters. I kept it's width 6 cross, same as other letters but then I made it 7 cross width and every thing was OK. See fig 3.

It is well known that Tunisian crochet work always get curved so I made simple half double crochet border with red colour. Still the door decor looked incomplete. Lastly I made simple tassels of one red and one white thread and it looked wonderful. I know that I could make it more beautiful with puff curves at it's bottom as I had made for my earlier toran, (I may post that Toran in my next post) but here it's OK

Tunisian Crochet
Fig 1
Hi friends,
Last week I again tried Tunisian crochet. Nearly before one year I made a sample with our usual crochet hook. I liked it but could not go further due to that hook. I searched for the Tunisian hook in our local market but could not find.

Then just before coming to USA my sister bought Tunisian crochet hook for me from Pune, a bigger city than us where she lived. Now I have a set of Tunisian crochet hook with 11 hooks of different sizes. See fig 2. Don't know why at that time I didn't have an idea of purchasing online from Amazon because I think, I am not very much use to, for online purchase rarely I purchase online.

Fig 2

Newly bought Tunisian hook inspired me to start it again. I again started from A, B, C  ... of Tunisian crochet and made sample, see fig 1. Then I also saw, how to change different colour yarn and how to bind off. See fig 3.

Then I also made one beautiful design in Tunisian crochet style. It looks like our Stockinette stitch in Knitting. See fig 4.

Now I think to work out some piece in Tunisian crochet. I have started one door decor (Toran) in Tunisian because I felt that cross stitch letters will go very well on this. I plan to make white door decor (Toran) and write WELCOME on that by cross stitch embroidery. Let us see, when it will complete?
Fig 5 that door decor. It is nice white colour but don't know why it looks like this in the photo (may be due to yellow light here).

Happy creativity.

Knitted Baby Set 18

Simple Baby Set:
Fig 1
Hello friends,
Here is one of my sets, I made for my little, cute grand daughter.
The yarn used here is shaded yarn. One skein is sufficient for the set. It is Bernat Baby yarn. First I made cap, a very simple usual pattern whose You tube video I am sharing below. Though it is in Marathi, but it has subtitles in English so no problem for any one.

Then I made sweater which I knit top-down type. It looks cute but for the colour symmetry I have to struggle much. Particularly for sleeves, as I wanted to bring symmetric colours for both sleeves. The colour of the yarn coming in a queue, I have to put aside and knit with the colour I wanted.

It was in simple Raglan cut sweater for 6-9 months. It's beauty is due to the colours.

Sweater video is also uploaded below.

Wrapping the Yarn
Fig 1

Hi friends,
Sorry that I haven't posted since 25 days. As written in my last post I was busy in a small baby (my grand daughter) entered in our family.

So when I was preparing for USA, I wanted to carry some of my yarns with me so that when ever I have time I can knit or crochet. Because we cannot purchase the yarn here, as soon as we stepped up in USA.

The yarns available with me were all in hanks form (as in fig 1). So I wished to make their balls for carrying to USA. But oh! God! it was so tedious work to do in all my busy schedule. Moreover

Fig 2
my legs were paining in making the balls from these hanks because we have to sit on ground in the position as in fig 2 and then make a ball from hank.

Then at once I realised that the arms of easy chair can be used for this.
See how it helps me in my packing. (fig 3)

Sine 2006, this easy chair is at home but this use of it, is a new invention for me.
