Crochet Fruits Part 10: Crochet Pineapple

Hello friends, how are you?Hope doing good and trying to be happy in this Corona period too. The whole year passed in waiting that now Corona will go, now it will definitely go..... But at least in India we are still in a dark shadow of it. Vaccination is going on and that is the only ray of hope.Any way, we have trained our minds to remain fresh in any environment with the help of our hobby, CROCHET. Since last nine posts, I was making different fruits in this fruit dish. This is the last one and it is Pineapple.
Pattern: I use Yellow and green yarns with 3.5 mm crochet hook. With green, R1: In a magic loop 18 dc R2: ch2, hdc 1 in each st, BO but don’t cut as this colour is used in alternate round (18 sts) R3: with yellow, sc1, (ch2, dc2, skip 1 st, sc 1 in next) rep, make a knot don’t cut the yarn as we have to use it in alternate rounds. (9 petals made) R4: with green, sc 1 in same st on green part (one round down), [sc 1 in 2 sts, sc 1 in next st but on green part one round down] 9 times, cl.
R5: with yellow,( make petals of dc 5 in the gap of two yellow petals previously made, join by sc 1 in the middle green st) 9 times, cl.
R6: with green, (sc 1 in the gap on green st one round down, sc 1 in 4 yeallow dc-sts) 9 times, cl R7: with yellow, (make petal of dc 7 in the gap of two petals previously made, join by sc 1 at the middle green sc-st) 9 times, cl.
R8: with green, (sc 1in the gap at one round down, skip 1 dc-st, makesc 1 on each of the 6 dc-sts) rep 9 times, cl Repeat round 7 and 8 till the height is 5”.
Next round: with yellow, (dc 5 in gap, join by sc 1 in middle green sc-st) 9 times, cl Next round: with green, (sc 1 in one round down st, skip first st, sc 1 in 4 sts) 9 times, cl
Next round: with yellow, (dc 3 in gap, join by sc1 at the middle green sc-st) 9 times, cl
Fill fiber inside. Next round: with green, (sc 1 gap one round down, sc 1 in 2 dc-sts) 9 times, cl Next round: with yellow, (dc2 in gap, sc 2 at the middle sc-st) rep 9 times, cl Next round: with green, (sc 1 in gap one round down, sc 1 in 1dc-st) 9 times, cl
Stem: R1: with green make dc 18 in a magic loop, cl R2: ch2, hdc 1 in back loop of each st, cl. Now make (1 leaf in front loop and next leaf in st) Leaf: R1: Join yarn at front loop of one st, ch16, skip first ch, sc1 in second, hdc 1 in third, dc 1 in remaining 13 sts, skip one st and join in next by sl st, make such 6 leaves. R2: By inserting metallic wire, make sc 1 in each st at corner, make ch1 then sc 1 on each st of other side.
Make 6 more leaves on outer round with chs 18 in the same way, sc1, hdc 1 dc 14, skip one st and join by sl st in next.
Sew stem part to the pineapple by tapestry needle.

Crochet Fruits Part 9: Crochet Mango

Friends, This is the king of all fruits (as said in India). Moreover it's mango season and I am making mango. WOW!!! There is also one very senty memory with this fruit. My father, (we call him "dada"), liked mango so much that when he was 84 years old, in that summer, one day when there was "aamras" (mango juice) for lunch, he said, "Alka I may not be alive for next summer season of mango n?" and realy he was not........ Memories.... some times brings tears in eyes, some times brings laughter on our face...... Pattern: I used Vardhamaan 4 ply yarn and 3.5 mm crochet hook. Note that we shall work in spiral so don't close the round by slip stitch rather place marker at the firat at of each round. R1: In a magic loop make, ch1, sc6 (6 sts) R2: (sc 1 in 1 st, sc2 in next) 3 times, (9sts) R3: (sc 1 in 2 sts, sc2 next) 3 times, (12 sts) R4: (sc 1 in 5 sts, sc2 next) 2 times, (14 sts) R5: (sc 1 in 6 sts, sc2 next) 2 times, (16 sts) R6: (sc1 in 7 sts, sc2 next) 2 times, (18 sts)

Crochet Fruis Part 8: Crochet Strawberry

Strawberry, one of the favorite fruit of my grand daughter. Small, bright coloured, cute in looking fruit. Every one likes it. First time I saw Strawberry farming, when I went to Mahabaleshwar, the beautiful hill station in Maharashtra. I was so inspired that I try to cultivate it in my home also. It was in my garden for 4-5 months but as soon as summer started no future to that. While making it, I enjoyed that cute little fruit. Pattern: I use 4 ply red and green yarns and 1.75 mm crochet hook. I worked it in spiral, so place marker at the first stitch of each round. R1: With red yarn, in a magic loop make ch1, sc6, (6 sts) R2: (sc1 in 1 st, sc2 in next st) 3 times, (9sts) R3: (sc1 in 2 st, sc2 in next st) 3 times, (12sts) R4: (sc1 in 3 st, sc2 in next st) 3 times, (15sts)
R5: (sc1 in 4 st, sc2 in next st) 3 times, (18sts) R6: (sc1 in 5 st, sc2 in next st) 3 times, (21sts)
R7: (sc1 in 6 st, sc2 in next st) 3 times, (24sts) R8: (sc1 in 7 st, sc2 in next st) 3 times, (27sts) R9: (sc1 in 8 st, sc2 in next st) 3 times, (30sts) R10 to R13: sc1 in each st, (30 sts)

Sew this to the open red portion made.

Pattern is made in spiral, so we have to place marker at the first st in each round. Friends, Oranges are produced in Vidarbha region of Maharashtra, in which I lived. It's a sweet citrus fruit and very useful for skin, rich in vitamin C and also contents antioxidents useful to fight disease. Pattern: I use orange green and brown 4 ply yarns. R1: In a magic loop make ch1, sc6, cl the loop but don’t close by sl st, work in spiral. R2: sc2 in each st, (12 sts) R3: (sc1 in one st, sc2 in next) 6 times, (18 sts) R4: (sc1 in 2 st, sc2 in next) 6 times, (24 sts)
R5: (sc1 in 3 st, sc2 in next) 6 times, (30 sts) R6: (sc1 in 4 st, sc2 in next) 6 times, (36 sts)
R7: (sc1 in 5 st, sc2 in next) 6 times, (42 sts)
R8: to R17: sc 1 in each st, (42 sts)
R18: (sc 1 in 5 sts, 2sctog next) 6 times, (36 sts) R19: (sc 1 in 4 sts, 2sctog next) 6 times, (30 sts)
R20: (sc 1 in 3 sts, 2sctog next) 6 times, (24 sts) R21: (sc 1 in 2 sts, 2sctog next) 6 times, (18 sts)
R22: (sc 1 in 1 sts, 2sctog next) 6 times, (12 sts) Fill fiber uniformly. R23: 2sctog till end (6 sts) Close by sewing.
Then pass the tapestry needle from top to bottom and then again to top to get expected shape as shown.
Stem: with brown, ch8, sc 1 in each ch from second. Leaf: ch10, R1: sc1 in 2 sts, hdc 2, (dc2) in next st, hdc 2, sc2,ch1, at corner, sc2, hdc2, (dc2) in one st, hdc2, sc2, sc 1 in the st on opposite side, BO.
Sew stem and leaf at the top as shown,
