Crochet Doily with Beautiful 3 D Border, Thalposh, Mandalam

Hello friends,

In the last post I have posted one table mat with same type of border but then many of my friends requested me to make round doily with the same border. So I made this.

I used Vardhamaan Millenium yarn and 3.5 mm hook. Width of this doily is 17.5" and weight 120 gm.

Pattern: With white yarn,

R1: In a magic loop make dc14, cl. (First dc is always ch3)

R2: dc2 in each st, cl (28).

R3: (dc1 in one st, dc2 in next) 14 times, cl (42).

R4: (dc1 in 2 sts, dc2 in next) 14  times, cl (56).

R5: With light brown color, (dc1 in 2 sts, ch6, skip 2 sts) 14 times, cl.

R6: sl st in between two dcs of R5, ch3, on left dc of two [(make long dc sts 8 times, YO pass through 2 sts) 8 times, TURN, ch3-picot, (make long dc sts 8 times, YO pass through 2 sts) 8 times, sc 6 in ch6-sp] rep 14 times, cl.

Join white yarn in ch6-sp.
R7: dc8 in each ch6-sp including sc-sts in ch6-sp, cl. (112)

R8: dc1 in each st, cl (112)

R9: (dc 1 in 7 sts, dc2 next) 14 times, cl (126)
R10: (dc 1 in 8 sts, dc2 next) 14 times, cl (140)
R11: (dc 1 in 9 sts, dc2 next) 14 times, cl (154)
R12: (dc1 in 10 sts, dc2 next) 14 times, cl (168)
R13: dc 1 in each st, cl (168)
R14: same as R13. BO
Join red yarn at any st.
R15: (dc1 in dc-st, ch1) 168 times, cl. BO.
Join brown yarn at ch1-sp
R16: dc2 in each ch1-sp, ch2, cl.
Join yellowish color in ch2-sp
R17: (sc1 in ch2-sp, dc8 in next ch2-sp) repeat till end, cl. BO.

In first photo, I have shown, how to join 5 petals and make flower then 2 petals on down side then new flower. First petal of new flower is joint with the last petal of previous flower and so on.....

R18: [sc1 in each of the 8 dc-st, sc in one round below ch2-sp at the joint] rep till 7 petals made,
join with the first st as shown, make border of 3 petals, join the last with                                                  5th petal and one flower is complete as shown and so on. Join last flower with the first flower also.

The beautiful border is ready.

Crochet Table Mat, Leaf Shaped Doily with Beautiful Border

Hello friends,

This is my creation in last week. It's Leaf shaped table mat with beautiful border. This time I have choosen Peacock feather colour scheme and I like that combination.

I use Vardhamaan Millenium yarn and 3.5 mm hook. It's length 20", width 14.5" and weight 115 gm.

Pattern: Make a ring of ch5.

R1: In the ring above (dc6, ch2) 2 times, cl.

R2: (dc2 on each st and V in ch2-sp) 2 times, cl.

Means we have 14 st in between two ch2-spaces.

R3: sl st, [(dc2 in next dc-st, ch2, skip 2 sts) 4 times, (dc2, ch3, dc2) called shell, at corner, ch2] 2 times, cl.

R4: [(dc1 on dc-st, dc2 in next dc-st, ch2) 4 times, dc1 on each dc-st, shell at corner] 2 times, cl.

R5: R6: ... are same as R4 means [(increase 1 dc before ch2-sp) 4 times, dc on each dc-st till corner then shell in corner's ch3-sp] 2 times, cl

Repeat till there are 11 dc-sts in 4 groups on both sides and 20 dc-sts before corner's ch2-sp.

Next round: dc1 in each dc-st, dc2 in each ch2-sp, dc 4 at corners ch3-sp, cl.

There will be 44+10+40+4=98 sts on one side and 98 sts on other side.

Now for BORDER: Join orange yarn at any dc-st.

R1: (dc1, ch1) in each dc, cl. (Total 196 ch1-spaces).

We have 98 ch1-sp on each side. Join blue yarn at any ch1-sp.

R2: (dc2 in ch1-sp, ch2) rep till end, cl. (196 ch2-sp)

Join peacock color at ch2-sp.

R3: (dc8 in ch2-sp, sc1 in next ch2-sp) rep till end, cl.

We have 196 fans (means dc8 groups). Each flower needs 7 fans (5 fans will form 5 petals of flower and 2 fans will be down). We make border of these petals by single crochet and join the petals at proper points.

Last row: Join green yarn at first st of first fan after corner.

This is how we are going to join these fans to form 5 petal flower and 2 petals down the flower. I have made knots with yarn pieces, to show the final look.

BORDER: sc1 in 8 dc-sts, sc1 in the space between two petals one round below.

Make border of 5 petals, join with the first st of first petal, then (make border of 3 petals, join with the space between 5th and 4th petal, then make border of 4 petals, join next sc with  last of the 3 petals down to form second flower) rep till end. Join last flower with the first one as shown.

This is how we are joining first petal of new flower with last petal of previous one.

This is how the beautiful table mat is made. The following video may help you.
