Hello friends,

Here is a very small doily I made as Lakshmiji's Aasan (Rug to sit) for Diwali. It's design is having border of small Panati (Diwali Diya). Hence it is Diwali special small doily. Ofcourse you can make it in bigger size also. It looks beautiful.

You can use it as small Diwali or Sankranti gifts to friends.

When the fabric fevicol will dry the white part seeing in the above photo near chord will be vanished.

Hello friends,

In every festival we want to make some new home decor. Last year I made these small Aakash Kandil (lantern) as a show piece.

See the post,

So this year I made Old Kerosene Lantern as in photo 1.
For Toran I made Kandil by 1.75 mm hook and Hobby Stores yarn which is 4 ply but still very thin. There are beautiful colours in that.
The middle one in three (red and yellow) I made in 1.75 mm hook but with Vardhamaan Millenium yarn so it comes out bigger in size.

Height of smaller two is 3” and height of other is 3.5”. Weight 8 gm

R1: With blue yarn, in a magic loop make ch1, sc6, work in spiral so don’t close.

R11: (sc 1 in 3 sts, sc2 next) 6 times, (30)

R12: (sc1 in 3 sts, 2sctog next) 6 times, (24)

R13: (sc1 in 2 sts, 2sctog) 6 times, (18)

R22: (sc1 in 1 st, 2sctog) 6 times, cl (12)

R23: 2sctog 6 times, cl (6)

BO with yarn end and sew these 6 sts by tapestry needle.

Handle: Make two.

With red yarn make chs 12, sc3 in third ch, sc 1 in each of the remaining st except last ch. Sc 3 in last ch, BO with yarn end.

Sew these  handles as shown.

With long yarn end of magic loop make chs 24 and sew to make a loop for attaching the lantern.

Beautiful Crochet Toran with Floral Design specially for Diwali, Christmas etc

Hello friends,

This is another design for festival Toran. Instead of pom pom I have attached white crystal leaves and plastic Latkan.

It's length is 35”, Height 10” and weight 105 gm.

Yarn used Vardhamaan 4 ply, hook 3.5 mm

Toran patti

Make chs 12+3

About photos in white I apologize because of reflection on white colour they cannot be clearly seen.

R1: (dc2, ch2, dc3) in 4th ch, skip 2 sts, dc 1 in next 6 sts, skip 2 sts, (dc3, ch2, dc3) shell in next st.

R2: ch4 turn, shell on shell, dc 1 on first dc-st, ch4, dc 1 on last dc-st, shell on shell.

R3: ch4 turn, shell on shell, dc 1 on dc-st, dc 4 in ch4-sp, dc on dc-st, shell on shell.

Repeat R2 and R3 for as much length as you want.

While closing row I have changed little bit in order to get straight appearance. Instead of shell I made sc in ch2-sp of shell of previous row.

Join blue yarn at ch4-sp.

Lower Pattern: R1: sc1, (ch5, sc1 in next ch4-sp) rep till end sc 1 in last ch4-sp

Work on both sides.

R2: (dc 1 on sc-st, dc 5 in ch5-sp) rep till corner, dc 5, dc 2 in gap between 2 dcs of shell, dc 1 in ch2-sp, dc 2 in gap between 2 dcs of shell, dc 1 in each gap between next 6 dcs, dc2 in shell, dc1 in ch2-sp, dc2 in shell, dc5 in last gap, (dc 1 on sc-st, dc 5 in ch5-sp) rep till corner, make same number of dcs on this side also as on other edge. Cl.

Now for one pattern of next design we need 6 slots of dc 5. So we first place marker at central gap (and not in st) then symmetrically on both sides in the gap after 6 slots. Some sts will remain on both sides.

Join pink yarn at corner.

R3: ch1, sc 1 in each st till 5 sts remain to the first marker, [ch5, skip 5 sts, dc 3 at marker’s gap, ch5, skip 5 sts, ssc 1 in next 20 sts, ch5, skip 5 sts] 5 times , ch5, skip first 2 sts, sc 1 in remaining.

R4: ch1 turn, sc 1 in each sc-st skipping last 2 sts, [ch5, {(dc2), (dc3), (dc2)} on three dc-sts, ch5, skip first and last 2 sc-sts, make sc 1 on each of the remaining sts] 5 times, ch5, skip first 2 sts, sc 1 in remaining.

R5: ch1 turn, sc 1 in each sc-st skipping last 2 sts, ch5, sl st in first dc-st (out of 7), dc 11 in the middle dc-st, sl st in last dc-st, ch5, skip first and last 2 sts and make sc 1 in each st in between] 5 times, ch5, skip first 2 sts, sc 1 in remaining.

R6: ch1 turn, sc 1 in each sc-st skipping last 2 sts, [ch5, (dc1, ch1) 11 times, ch5, skip first and last 2 sts and make sc 1 in each st in between] rep till end, lastly skip first 2 sts, sc 1 in remaining sts.

R7: ch1 turn, sc 1 in each sc-st skipping last 2 sts, [ ch5, incomplete db tr 3 in first ch1-sp, incomplete db tr 2 in second ch1-sp, YO pass through all 6 sts, ch1 to fix it (5db tr tog made and first petal made), ch5, incomplete db tr 1 in second gap, incomplete db tr 3 in third gap, incomplete db tr 1 in next gap, YO pass throu all, ch1 to fix it (second petal made),ch5,  make four more petals like this, lasly ch5, then skipping first 2 and last 2 sts, make sc 1 in between. Repeat this till end. Lastly skipping first 2 sts, sc1 in each of the remaining. BO.

Note: Each time we make 3 incomplete db tr in one ch1-sp (there are 10 ch1-spaces so 30 incomplete db tr will be there, using 5 for one petal thus 6 petals are made.

Join white yarn in first st on RS

R8: ch1, sc 1 in each st and sc 6 in each ch5-sp till end, BO

Join blue yarn at first st

R9: (dc1, ch3, skip 2 sts) , on flower side, (dc 1in the mid of 6sc-sts,  ch3, dc 1 at the edge of petal, ch3) till the centre space of flower,

V at the centre (dc1, ch2, dc1), dc 1in the mid of 6sc-sts,  ch3, dc 1 at the edge of petal, ch3) till the end of the flower,

incomplete dc in last sp, incomplete dc in between 4 sc-sts, incomplete dc in next space, YO pass through all, (means 3dctog made) repeat till end.

R10: (dc on dc, ch3) till first petal, then {dc1 on dc st, (ch1,ch5-picot, ch1) instead of ch3} rep till central V,

on ch2-sp of V make (dc1, ch1, ch5-picot, ch1, dc1),

on other side of flower also {dc1 on dc st, (ch1,ch5-picot, ch1), then ch3, sc1 in 3dctog st, ch5-picot there, ch3,

{dc1 on dc st, (ch1,ch5-picot, ch1)} repeat till end, after all 5 flowers simply make (dc1, ch3, skip 2 sts) rep

Now if you have matching satin ribbon, pass through the windows or make the strip of pink yarn as follows.

Ch5+2

R1: dc 1 in each ch from third. (5 sts)

R2: ch3 turn, dc 1 in each of the remaining 4 sts. (5)

Repeat R2 till the required length.

Pass the strip through the white windows as shown.

Attach some Latkan or Pompom or beads. I attached this one, only instead of pink those are purple.
