Realistic Red Roses
Fig 1
Hi friends,
As said in my last post, these are the roses which gave me satisfaction to some extend because they caught the beauty of real roses to some extend.

After completing them when I try to catch them in camera, it was night time and don't know why but the colour of the roses changes surprisingly. Totally they looked pink 😵. See fig 1 in day light and 2 in the night.

Fig 2

I enjoyed both pictures.

These beautiful roses are made by following  She's Crafty in, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2f2COLKPVY4&t=456s

I am very much thankful for such a beautiful pattern.

There are three types of Roses explained in 7 wonderful videos. First I started with petals. Three different sizes of petals were given. For bud three small petals are needed, for middle size flower 3 small and 3 middle size petals and for the big flower 3 small, 3 middle size and 3 big petals were needed. I made all necessary petals but OMG; I didn't have that stem recommended in the video. I saw it on Amazon but prizes in Dollar? ( So I understood that they were not for me!😢). I thought of wrapping green paper strips to iron wire that was available here and I used them when I made duplex paper flowers long back. But I could imagine that those stems would not work here as these flowers were quite heavy. They would need more sturdy stem to hold them. Temporarily I wrapped green yarn over the straw which we used for drinking cocnut water. Width wise it matches the flower but again the question came of balancing it! See fig 3.
After some days when I went to Pune, I saw stems in one shop (Samrat near Tulashi Bag) and I purchased them (Fig 4). In my next flower project they can be used.

Then made sepals for all of them as per the guidance in the video. Then leaves were made (Fig 5)

When I completed it,  it's really preciously beautiful!!! I was very much pleased. See fig 6, 7 and 8.

Fig 8
The idea of warming each petal in the flame of candle is wonderful!

Then first of all I tied up rose bud. Look the cute rose bud.

When all of them were tied it was night, I could not wait for the morning light, I took the snap and Oh! they were pink flowers but really very pleasant.

Then photo session went on for some days fig 9. I took one of the snap from which I made Diwali Greeting also (Fig 10).

 Roses

Fig 1
Hi friends,
Flowers are undivided part of our life. They make us feel happy, they spread pleasure around them moreover they express our feelings. If you offer flower to your beloved it conveys "your love". If we offer flower to a patient it conveys "Get well soon" and make him / her happy. Not only this but the heeling property of flower has been proved now by scientists.  In any function, we welcome guests by offering them bouquet of flowers to express gratitude and respect about them.

In India we call Rose as a King of flowers and yes! it's true. It's beauty, it's smell, variety in it's colours naturally makes it a King. Every one has deep attraction about rose. Every form of art has expressed it's images.

I used to draw Rose in my childhood and every time disappointed as it never looked as beautiful as real. Where as my younger brother Sunil is master in that. No one will believe that rose in Fig 2 was a pencil sketch by him. He is a wonderful artist we all sisters are proud of him.
Fig 2

Then I learnt to make rose when I was in 2nd class. In those days, we used to put two ribbons to our two braids. If any one ribbon went lose in school then one of my friends used to make rose from that. She used to fold it with uneven lengths and put one part over other as in fig 3, 4, 5 and 6.
Fig 3

Fig 4

Fig 5

Fig 6

After folding full length ribbon as in fig 7, the smaller end was pushed and we got a beautiful rose as in fig 8. I loved that method in those days.
Fig 7
Fig 8

Today also I used that childhood method when I make roses for gift packing. I made them with narrow ribbon as in Fig 9. One more way of folding ribbon, I learnt and made new type of rose as in Fig 10.

Later on when I learnt crochet, I tried to make roses with different methods.
Rose in fig 1 is very simple to work and the link for that is,
http://www.diyhowto.org/crochet-3d-rose-flowers-free-patterns/
Of course it looks beautiful and moreover it is very simple to do.

Then one more type of rose I made which I have posted on Sep 2017. I made small bags of those two roses. The bag in fig 11, was made by nylon wire and that in fig 12 was made of wool.

Lastly rose rangoli by me.

Though I made such number of roses in different style with different medium but the real satisfaction of Rose creation, I experienced was the crochet roses which I will post in my next post.

Happy creativity.

Spec Bag

Hi friends,
In travel, it goes very difficult to secure our specs because I use it continuously and put aside only at night. Also if I wake up and wants to see time, I need spec. In such situation spec cover /box/ bag is very important. If I put it in a bag then again in the night I cannot find it easily. It is always in the last part of the bag from which I started to find 😡. So in Singapore trip I realised this and I decided to make one spec bag which can be hanged to any hook near the seat.
Coming back home I made this spec bag.

I liked this beautiful texture design and hence I used it here. It's link is,
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DNTWI7z8iBo&t=513s

In my next trip I hope that to find spec at night journey will not be a problem 😯.

For this bag, I CO 30 stitches and worked for 6" then fold and sewed. Made one triangular flap as in my mobile bag post on 28th July 2018. Then a small belt of 3.5" by braided method was attached. That heart shape button added the symbol of love to the bag.
Final size: 6" x 3.5".
Because of bulky wool it protects glasses like cushion.

You can make similar bags for your mobile and gift your friends or to small kids for putting his / her coloured pencils or pens.

Happy knitting.

Knitting / Crochet Booties Measurement

Fig 1

Fig 2
Fig 3

Fig 4
Hi friends,

In last two posts I am writing about booties either knitted or crocheted. This week I made booties for myself with the same technique. That time I realised that I should say something about how to take measurements for boot and then how to decide that with how much stitches or chains we should start with?

Measure the lengths A and B as per fig 5. For my feet A=9" and B=3.5".
Fig 5

Fig 6
Then for finding the number of stitches to start with I measure the length as in fig 6 and it is 19".

Now any hand knitted garment is some what stretchy so for proper fitting I reduced this length by 1" that means my starting number of stitches should produce 18" length. I used Oswal Winter special wool and UK 9 number needles my gauge is 5 stitches per inch. So 18x5 that means, I have to  CO 90 stitches. Then work it, till I get the height 3" as in fig 7.
Fig 7

Fig 8

Now because for my feet B=3.5" and considering my gauge, I decided to knit middle 18 stitches further. So my initial 90 stitches were divided in three parts, 36 + 18 + 36 stitches. Then I knitted those middle 18 stitches till it's height AC was equal to the length of side AB as in fig 7 and then my work looked as in fig 8.
Then sewing part was same as explained in the post on 3rd Sep 2018.
Similarly we can make the shoes in crochet also. For crochet (as in 3rd September's post) you have to check the gauge of single crochet work and then decide that how many chains will be for foundation.
Happy knitting and crocheting.

Cute Crochet Booties for New Born
Fig 1
Hi friends,
Such type of knitting pattern I have already made but now trying for crochet pattern. Technique I have used is same. First I made T-shape and then join as that of knitted booties.
Pattern: Start with chains 25 + 1 for the height of first single crochet.
Row 1: Starting from second chain work sc on each chain. Ch 1 turn.
R 2: sc on each stitch, ch 1 turn.
R 3: As R 2.
Repeat till the height is 3.75 cm. (I have to make 6 rows)
Bind off the last stitch. Our worked part is as in fig 2.
Fig 2

Join the yarn at the 11th stitch from hook.
R 1: Chain 1 and then sc on next 5 stitches, ch1 turn.
R 2: sc on each of the 5 sts, ch 1 turn.
Repeat R 2 till the height  of this middle portion equals to the length of 10 sts on left part. See fig 3, both equals to 6 cm.
Fig 3

Fig 4

Bind off.
Now put it as in fig 4
Place the side DC on AB so that D coincides with A. Now sew the sides BG with CG.
Now it will look as fig 5.
Fig 5
Fig 6

Now put the side EF on AB with E coinciding with A. Then join all the three edges AB, DC with EF.
It will be as in fig 7.
Now you can see the edges AH and EH are coinciding, we have to sew them but carefully, so that one more edge which can be seen in between these two edges, should not be sewed. See fig 7 and 8.
Fig 7
Fig 8

Hide the remaining ends of the yarn and turn right side up. The beautiful boot is ready.
Bow: Then I tried to find show buttons but unfortunately I didn't get suitable, so I decided to make small bows for two booties.
Start with chain 3, work one dc on first chain. Then work 3 chains again and join with the first ch.
Repeat this on other side also, you will get beautiful bow.
Fig 9
Sew that bow to the boot at proper place.
Work one more booty but while sewing it, note that you have to sew the edge EH with AH first and then the three edges AB, EF and DC  and lastly the side BG. Thus your Cute Crochet booties are ready.

I used here Vardhamaan knitting yarn, it is completed in 20 gm wool. Hook I used is 2.5 mm.

Happy crocheting.

In the next post I will discuss about, how to take the measurements for booties and how to fix required number of stitches or chains to start with.
