Knitted Baby Jacket, Sweater: Princess

Hello friends, After so many days, I made this knitted jacket for the daughter of one of my favourite student. I have some sparking dark purple colour and I wanted to use it from so many days. So I found one more yarn which was light purple and not sparking, our usual Vardhamaan 4 ply yarn.
So I decided to make just a jacket. It's width 10", height 12" and weight just 100 gm. It will fit 1 year baby. Pattern: Cast on 115 sts by dark and sparkling colour yarn. R1 to R6: All knit (k).
R7: Work all K. But first and last 6 sts with dark colour and in between with light purple. Remember that when we change the yarn colour twist before making next stitch.
R8 and all odd numbered rows: First and last 6 sts K with dark colour and all sts in between purl (p) with light colour. Repeat rows 7 and 8 till the height from the first row is 7".
Now we divide these 115 stitches as, 115 = 6 button band+ 24 front part I+ 55 Back part+ 24 front part II+ 6 buttonhole band. Now we shall work only on front part I: R1: K6 with dark colour, K19 with light colour, K3 with dark colour, (these last 3 with dark colour will make our arm hole band). Means out of 6+24 sts we work only 6+19+3 means only 6+22 sts (2 sts will be decrease of armhole). R2: K3 with dark, P19 with light, K6 with dark. R3: K6 with dark, K19 with light, K3 with dark. R4: K6 with dark, with light K2tog, remaining all K with light, last 3 K with dark. Decrease total 6 sts from neck side. Work similarly till the total height is 12" and there will be 21 sts for shoulder.
Now bind off next 4 sts by dark colour (2 will be from front part and 2 from back part). Back side: Now again 3 sts with dark colour, remaing all 45 sts with light purple colour yarn, last 3 again with dark. (These 3 dark coloured strip will form armhole bands on back side. Thus 3+45+3= 51 sts worked out and 2 initially and 2 at last 4 sts will be bind off, thus total 55 sts on back.
Work as per routine pattern till the height is 11.5". Half inch border with dark colour will be made at last.
After back side, we make the remaining front part. Bind off 4 sts by dark colour (2 will be from back side and 2 from remaining front side). Next row: 3 with dark, remaining with purple and last 6 with dark (for buttonhole band). Work as per pattern, decrease 1 st on neck side in every forth row. Work as the front part already done. Lastly there will be 21 sts on shoulder.
Then fold it with right side on right side and bind of these 21 shoulder sts by three needle technique.
Lastly for finishing make 2-3 sts by crochet hook with dark colour at the joint of underarms.
The beautiful baby jacket (Princess jacket) is ready as in fig 1. The following video with English subtitles may help you.

Crochet Pullover for Kids (Any Size)

Hi friends, Before Diwali's tedious work starts, I made one pullover for my grandson who is 4 years because I want to send it to USA with Diwali Faral (as the courier service DTDC gives special offer at the time of Diwali). Pattern: I used 4 ply yarn and 3.5 mm crochet hook. The measurements of pullover after completing are: Width 12.5", Height 15". The yarn needed is 230 gm. Since it should become easy to wear, I decided to start with neck round 20". For that I have to make 84 chains to start with. Then without twisting , have a slip st in the first ch to form a ring. NECKBAND: R1: ch3 (as a first dc), dc 1 in each st starting from forth, join by sl st in the third ch (in first dc). (84 sts) R2:ch2, (fpdc 1 on next dc, bpdc 1 in next) repeat till end, cl by sl st.
R3:ch2, (fpdc on previous fpdc and bpdc on bpdc) rep, cl. Neckband done. Now divide the 84 sts in four parts and place markers 4 as follows:
13 sts for part of back side+1 Marker+ 15 sleeves+ 1 Marker+ 25 front side+1 Marker + 15 sleeves+1 Marker+ 12 sts for part of back side= 84 sts. In order that joint should go to back side, we make this division. Note that for back side also there are 13+12 that is 25 sts. We make 2 loops designs on sleeves and 4 loops designs on front side. For this loop design we divide this 15 sts of sleeves as, 4sts+ 1 for loop design+ 5 sts + 1 for loop design+ 4 sts = 15 sts For front side design we divide 25 sts as, 3+1D+5+1D+5+1D+5+1D+3 = 25 sts, 1D means 1 st for loop design. Before starting next round note that at each marker we have to make shell. In next round shell means (dc2, ch2, dc2) and after that in each round shell means (dc1, ch2, dc1). Hence in next round 12 sts increases and in all next rounds to that only 8 sts increases. Also there is 1 st for loop design where we have to make dc 1 and ch10 loop. R4: Here after, dc 1 in each st except at marker st make shell and st 1 which is mentioned as for loop design, make dc1, ch10-loop, lastly cl by sl st.
R5: dc1 in each st including 2 dcs of shell in previous round then shell in ch2-sp of previous round shell, then repeat as in previous round. Repeat this round till the length of yoke is 6". For this we have to make increases in 12 rounds. Now let us have some mathematics (?) In these increase rounds 12 sts [3 sts increases at each shell point, because on one st we make (dc2, ch2, dc 2)]+ 88 sts (8 increase in each 0f the 11 rounds thus 11X8) thus 100 sts increases and number of sts after yoke will be 84+100 that is 184 sts. For sleeves we started with 15 sts and till the yoke completed there is increase of 26 sts in sleeves, hence 41 sts for sleeves. When we have started on back and front sides there are 25 sts and when yoke completes we have 25+26=51 sts.
Now in the next round we shall skip sleeves sts and join front and back sides in round by adding ch4 as under arm chains. Also we make dc 1 in each shell while joining front and back. So these 4 sts increased. First round after yoke completed. R: dc 1 in each st, design st as routine, at ch2-sp of shell make dc 1, ch4 (see next fig), skip sleeves sts and dc 1 in next ch2-sp. Similarly on other side sleeve.
Next round: dc 1 in each st, design at4 front sts as routine, dc 4 in ch4-sp at under arm. Thus 8 sts increase. All next round as per pattern till the height is 14".
Border: R1: dc1 in each st till the first design on front side, then from top side pass the second loop of ch10 through first loop, (then pass third loop from second, then forth loop from third and so on) (see next fig), make sc 1 in the last wrapped ring, then again dc 1 till another design st comes again pass each loops through its previous and sc 1 in the last loop and so on.
Then make border as per neckband.
Sleeves: Join yarn at underarm sts of sleeve. Work according to design. Decrease: After each 1" or 1.5" decrease 2 sts till 40 sts remain. Then make three rounds as per neck border and then bind off. Length of sleeve should be 14" - 14.5". Make grab stitch border by contrast matching colour to neck and sleeves. The beautiful pullover is ready. For different sizes you may refer following table.

Crochet Diwali Faral (Snacks) Part 4: Chiwada and Shev (Bhujiya)

Hi everyone, Here is the crochet recipe of Indian famous snack Chivada and Shev (Bhujiya). Ingrediants in chivda are Pohe, Murmure (rice lahi), ground nut, chilly, Kadhipatta. We made only murmura chivda, no poha used. Actally it looks as,
and Shev is made of besan (Chana daal floor) and in real it will look as,
For Crochet Chivda we used yellow, orange, blackish red, blackish green colour yarns (because nuts, chilly and kadhipatta are deep fried in oil so we use blackish colours) in 4 ply and 1.75 mm crochet hook. Murmura: With yellow yarn, make ch3, incomplete dc 2 in first ch, YO and pass through all, bind off. This is one murmura, for Chivda we have to make several, here we made 25-30 pieces.
Dalava: With orange yarn in a magic loop make ch1, sc 5, cl by sl st in the first sc. Bind off.
Daana: (Ground nut): With blackish red yarn, make ch2, get second ch long, (YO insert hook in first ch, YO get 2 long sts) rep 4 times, there are 9 sts on hook, YO and pass through all 9 sts, bind off. Make 4-5 pieces.
Chilly: With blackish green yarn, R1: Make ch 6, sc 1 on each ch starting from second ch, (5 sts) R2: ch1 turn, sc 1 in each st, R3: same as R2. Sew two sides together by sl sts. Make it more hollow by inserting some pencil.
Kadhipatta: With Blackish green yarn, R1: Ch4, dc 4 in first ch, (5sts), ch1 turn, R2: sc2 in first and last sts, sc 1 in middle sts, (7 sts), ch1 turn, R3: sc 1 in each st, (7sts) bind off.
SHEV: Pattern: For this I simply cut 1" to 2" pieces of orange yarn. Apply some fabric fevical on each piece and let them dry, so that it will become stiff.
Wow!! everyone move must be watering seeing this Chivda - Shev.

Crochet Diwali Faral (Snacks) part 3: Chakali and Shankarpale

Hello friends, This is the third part of making Diwali snacks. Here I am giving the pattern for Chakali and Shankarpale. Please see the first photo. Actually Chakali is very different type of snacks. Five different types of grains with different proportion are fried and then mixed and granded. Then its dove is made adding chilly power, salt and other ingradients. The dough is put in mould and they are deep fried. Every one like this snack.
Shankarpale: This is little bit sweet item made by MAIDA. They are also made without suger with little salt only.
I have made Chakali in two different ways. CHAKALI TYPE 1- PATTERN: For this I used Oswal Winter special yarn (because only the matching colour found in this) but you may use and brand and 1.75 mm crochet hook. Make chs 100 R1: Extended double crochet in each ch till the last 15 chs remain, starting from 4th ch, hdc 1 in 10 chs, sc1 in last 5 chs. Extended dc means: YO insert in a st, YO get a st out, there are 3 sts on hook, YO pass through 1 st only, YO pass through 2 sts, YO and pass through remaining 2 sts. Now fold this horizontally then thread yarn in a tapestry needle and sew two sides taking outer part of stithes as shown in video.
Then wrap it round and sew from back side for support.
CHAKALI TYPE 2- PATTERN: chs 100, R1: tr1 in each ch starting from forth till the last 15 chs remain, dc 1 in next 10 sts, sc1 in last 5 sts, bind off.
Sew as above and wrap again sew from back side to support. Two types of Chakalis are ready.
SHANKARPALE PATTERN: Make ch4, dc 3 in first ch. (4 sts). Ch 1 turn, R2: sc2 in first and last st and sc 1 in middle 2 sts, (6sts), ch1, turn, R3: sc 2 in first and last sts, sc 1 in middle 4 sts, (8sts), ch1 turn,
R4: 2sctog, sc1 in 4 sts, 2sctog, (6sts), ch1 turn, R5: 2sctog, sc1 in 2 sts, 2sctog, (4sts),
R6: ch2, incomplete dc 1 in each of the next 3 sts, YO passs through all 4 sts on hook.
Make such 2 pieces.
Sew them along edges by inserting the yarn in tapestry needle. If needed insert some fiber in between.

Here is the beautiful and tasty Bundi laddu.
The following video with English subtitles may help you.
Now, let us make Rava Laddu: Pattern for Rava Laddu: While making this, we do not cl the round. We shall work in a spiral. So place marker at first st every time and when round finished, we work in the marker's st. R1: In a magic loop, ch1, sc6, (6sts) R2: ch1, sc2 in each st, (12 sts)
R3: ch1, (sc2, sc1) rep,(18 sts) R4: ch1, (sc2, sc1 in each of next 2 sts) rep, (24 sts)
