Crochet Coin Bag 11

Small Purse for Sankranti Gift / New Year Gift
Fig 1
Hello friends,
Yesterday I made this small purse / pouch as a gift item. New year is about to come and after that our festival "Sankranti"will come;so this is gift item for these occassions.
Makar Sankranti (Sankranti) generaly occurse on 14th or 15th of January. This is the only Indian festival which occures on a fixed date because it is as per solar cycle, all other festivals are celebrated as per Lunar cycle hence their dates are not fixed. Sankranti is the  day of the transit of the SUN from tropic of Cancer to the tropic of Capricorn (Makar Rashi). From this day onward day time becomes longer and longer. Means Sankranti is dedicated to God SUN.
Fig 2

Fig 3
A very special sweet is made for this day, TILGUL. It is made of Sesame seeds (til)and Jaggery (gul) hence the name of the sweet til-gul. See fig 2. We also made sweet roti (soft flat bread like) stuffed by ground sesame and jaggery. See fig 3.
Ladies particularly married women meet together and give small gift to friends. Halavyache dagine (ornaments) are made for newly married girl or for newly born baby. About this I have already written in my previous post, please see,
So this is one of the reason that I made this small purse. It's dimensions are 5.5" x 4".
Fig 4

Fig 5
Pattern: Start with chains whose length is 8", if you want to make a purse with height 4". Fig 4. I have to make 36 chs.

R1: (RS) ch 3, dc 1 in each ch, in last ch dc 6, dc 1 in each ch on other side. Place markers at

the first and the sixth sts in corner. Fig 5.(76 sts).
NOTE: Make every dc on right side inback loop or back part  of the stitch and on wrong side every dc in front part of the stitch.

R2: (WS) Ch3, dc 1 in front loop (front part of v stitch) of each st till marker, dc 2 in each of the next 6 sts, dc 1 in each of the remaining sts. (82 sts) Fig 6.
R3: (RS) Ch3, dc 1 in each st till marker, (dc 2 in next, dc 1 in each of the next  st) repeat 6 times till other marker, dc 1 in each of the remaining sts. (88 sts). See fig7.

R4: Ch3, dc 1 in each st till marker, (dc 2 in next, dc 1 in each of the next 2 sts) repeat 6 times till other marker, dc 1 in each of the remaining sts. (94 sts)

Sew lining as in fig 9. Fold as shown in fig 10 and sew the sides.

Fig 12

Now make a small hook (as per the diameter of the button) as in fig 11. I made 6 chs hook and sew the white button. The purse looks as in fig 12.
Handle: Instead of crochet handle here I made  handle with wooden beads just for a new style and it looks stylish as shown in fig 1.

Monkey Cap (Without Ears for Any Size)
Fig 1
Hello friends,
This week I made the Monkey cap for my 3 years old grand son, Krish, and I am so eager to see that real monkey of our family (because the whole day he jumps like monkey) in this monkey cap.

Pattern:

Round1: With light color, in a magic loop make ch3, dc 11, close by sl st in third ch.
R2: ch3, dc 1 in same st, dc 2 in each st till end, (24 sts), close. See fig 2
R3: ch 3, dc 1 in same st, dc 1 in next, (dc 2 in next, dc 1 in next) repeat till end., close (36 sts)
R4: ch 3, dc 1 in same st, dc 1 in each of the next 2 sts, ( dc 2 in next, dc 1 in each of the next 2 sts) repeat till end (48 sts), close. Fig 3.
R5: ch 3, dc 1 in same st, dc 1 in each of the next 3 sts, ( dc 2 in next, dc 1 in each of the next 3 sts) repeat till end (60 sts), close

Fig 2

Fig 3

R6: ch 3, dc 1 in same st, dc 1 in each of the next 4 sts, ( dc 2 in next, dc 1 in each of the next 4 sts) repeat till end (72 sts), close. See fig 4.
R7: ch 3, dc 1 in same st, dc 1 in each of the next 5 sts, ( dc 2 in next, dc 1 in each of the next 5 sts) repeat till end (84 sts), close. Fig 5.
R8: ch 3, dc 1 in next and then in each st (84 sts), close
R9: same as R8.
Fig 4

Fig 5
R10 and R11: same as R8 but with dark color.
R12 and R13: same as R8 with light color.
Divide 84 sts in three parts as, 84=30+24+30. See fig 6. Joints of the rounds are on back side. Now we join yarn at one marker and work 60 sts in rows that is to and fro.
These middle 24 sts, shown by marker are not worked for further 3 rows R14, R15 and R16 (yes these are rows and not rounds), all with dark color.
Fig 6

Fig 7

R17: dc 1 in each of the 60 sts then make ch 24 and join at other end. Fig 7.
Gap for the face is made. Now we again work in rounds.
Rounds 18 and 19 are worked again with dark color and only dc 1 in each st. See fig 8.
For round 20 join again at back side and work all further
Fig 8

Fig 9
rounds with light color, till the required height of the cap. Fig 9.
Flap: For flap join dark color as shown in fig. 10.
(2sctog) twice, (2dctog) twice, dc 1 in next 2 sts, (2trtog)twice, tr 1 in 3 sts, dc 1in next 2 sts, (2dctog) twice, 2sctog, bind off.
The flap looks as in fig 11.

Ear: With light color make 11+1= 12 chs.
Row 1: sc 1 in each of the next 2 sts, hdc 1 in next 2 sts, dc 1 in next 3 sts, hdc 1 in next 2 sts, sc 1 in each of the next 2 sts, (11 sts)
R2: sc 1 in each of the next 2
Fig 10

Fig 11
sts, hdc 1 in next 2 sts, dc 2 in each of the next 3 sts, hdc 1 in next 2 sts, sc 1 in each of the next 2 sts, (14 sts)
R3: Ch3, dc 1 in next 2 sts, dc 2 in each of the next 2 sts, dc 1 in each of the remaining sts. (16 sts)
R4: ch2, hdc 1 in next 7 sts, hdc 2 in each of the next 3 sts, hdc 1 in remaining sts ( 19 sts)
R5: Work this row with dark
Fig 12
color and in back loop. Join dark color at the base row of chs at 11th ch. Ch 2, dc 1 in 5 places, dc 2 at corner, dc 1 in next 3 sts, dc 2 in next 5 sts, dc 1 in remaining sts.

Make one more ear similarly or make its mirror image, means rows 1 ans 2 will be same. But in row 3 we have dc 2 in third and forth st, now we shall make dc 2 in 12th and 13th sts, like this.

Make one pom-pom with two colors and sew ears and pom-pom.

The beautiful Monkey cap is ready.

Now if you want to make monkey cap of any size, then you can, just measure the circumference of the head for whom you are going to make cap. Divide it by 3. For example if circumference is 21" then after dividing with 3 we get 7". Then start as above but increase sts till the diameter becomes 6.3" to 6.5". The circumference will be atomatically correct.

Crochet Wrap Dress 24: Crochet Kimono

Beautiful Crochet Kimono
Fig 1
Hi friends,
This week I made this crochet Kimono. It looks so cute and I am so much exited that when I can try it on my grand daughter 😄.

It is very simple and it takes 100 gms wool. I used 4 ply Vardhamaan wool and 3.5 mm crochet hook.

It's size is; height 11" and width 10".

Pattern:
Cut the yarn 2-3 ft and keep aside, we shall need it when we start sleeves.
I started it from back side with 45 chains (chs). Actual 45+3 chs
Fig 2

Fig 3
R1: dc 1 in each ch starting from 4th ch. Fig 2.
R2: ch3 turn, dc 1 in each st (45 sts)
Repeat row 2 till the height is 7". See fig 3.
Now take the piece of yarn we have already kept aside in the beginning. Make 32 chs and join by slip st to other end where working yarn is not there.
Then with working yarn make 32 + 3 chs Fig 4.
(We count sleeves rows again from 1,2,3 .....)
R1: dc 1 in each of the 32 chs starting from 4th ch, dc 1 in each st (45 sts) then dc 1 on each of the 32 chs we newly cast on other side. (Total 32+45+32= 109 dcs). Fig 5.
Fig 4
Fig 5
R2: ch 2 turn, hdc 1 on each of the next 10 sts, dc 1 in all sts till last 10 sts remain, hdc 1 in each of them.
R3: ch 2 turn,  hdc 1 on each of the next 15 sts, dc 1 in all sts till last 15 sts remain, hdc 1 in each of them.

See fig 6, I place marker to remember that 15 sts remain now.
Fig 6
Fig 7
Then go on doing dc 1 in each st till the height of the sleeve (armhole) is 4". See fig 7.
Then also place 2 markers dividing 45 basic sts in three groups of 15 sts each as in fig 7. Out of these three parts two parts are for shoulders and middle one is for neck.
Fig 8
Fig 9

Fig 10
Now we shall work only on 32 one sleeve+ 15 sts of one shoulder=47 sts as in fig 8.

Next row: dc 1 on each sttill last 2 sts on neck side, then dc2 in next st, dc 1 in last st (1st increased).
Fig 11

Thus increase 1 st on neck side in each row. See fig 9
Repeat this row till there are 3 rows left for the complete height of the sleeve (here I  make total 10 rows for sleeve's height 4"). In next row instead of dcs make hdc in last 15 sts all other dcs. See fig 10. Increasing 1 st on neck side should be continued.
Next row, make 10 hdc on wrist side and all other dcs.
Last row of sleeve make all dcs. Fig 11. Cut off the yarn if you are on wrist side.
We make 2 rows with 15 and 10 hdc in order to shape the wrist.
Fig 12

Fig 13
Join yarn at armhole side and make dc 1 on each st again increasing 1 st at neck side. See fig 12.
If necessary also increase 4-5 st one by one on armhole side after each 3-4 rows gradually. Count number of rows properly and increase on armhole side as necessary so that last 2 rows should be without increase and our stitches should be 45 as we have started with. See fig 13.
Then start at neck side and make other front part. Finally it will look as in fig 14.
Fig 14
Fig 15.

Fig 16
Now sew the under arm sleeve and back with one front similarly other side.

I have made two small flowers as a pom pom. They are very simple.
Pattern: Round 1:
Magic loop with ch 1 and 10 scs.

R2:(ch2, dc 1, tr1 in same st, dc 1 ch2 sl st in next st),fig 1,one petal, make such 5 petals and close by taking the st on back side and bind off. See fig 16.

Then make 4 pieces of chs st as per necessary length and sew two to one front and inner side. Attach flowers to two chs and sew them on front side as in fig 1.

About patch work, I will write in next post.

Hope that this video may help you to make this.
