Generation Next to Next....

Fig 1
Friends,
We all lovers of different arts have one responsibility and that is to pass our art( in what ever form we have it) to the next generation. I think I have done it but what about next to next generation? They might not be interested in picking it up when you want to give it to them but surely one day they will either realise it's importance or seeing your way of pursuing they will get inspire to take some interest in that.

These thought came in my mind when I saw these beautiful hand made "Rakhis" (Fig 1) sent by my little grand daughter (actually grand daughter of my sister) for my grand son. She got interest in crochet and she made it and sent with my sister from Pune to Amravati. What a love for the little brother!! and what a creativity!!! If some people who are reading this blog, don't know, what is Rakhi? then see fig 2, it is beautiful hand band that sister send to her brother or tie it to the wrist of her brother as a token of love and expecting same love from him.
So instead of purchasing ready made Rakhi, she made such a amazing rakhi by hands, so cute! This is love towards her brother, love towards art and this is; what we pass to next generation indirectly.
Fig 2

My previous experience in the same direction is also very memorable.
In those days I was in USA at my daughter's place and as usual I made sweater for my grand daughter. Moreover when ever I got time I use to knit or crochet. She saw it. One day she said to me," Aaji, I made sweater for you" (Aaji means grand maa). She was just 3 years at that time so I wondered and asked her to show and see what she showed me? (Fig 3). These were the left overs or last cut yarns from my work 😙. I could not stop my tears. So sweet! First thing was, she felt that she should also give some thing or particularly sweater to me( As I always use to give her) and second thing was that she just acted as if to knit and gave it to me. This is culture, what we have to pass to next generation.

Fig 3
The third experience was just on last Saturday when I was in video chat with my grand daughter (same in USA). She asked me," what I like to do when I have time?". I told her (as I was retired now), "I always knit or crochet when ever I have time". On that she replied, "yes I can also knit". (Again I thought that, as by now she was 6 years, she might have learnt knitting from her mother). She quickly understood that I was not relying, she said, "OK I will show you". Then she brought some pieces of yarn, make one knot then second, third, forth and five. I asked, "what is this?". Her reply with confidence," this is the way I knit" 😜. Then I asked, " what is this?". Her reply, "you have to recognise". (Again problem) It looks like earrings, my reply. See fig 4. She quickly made another one and said YES!!
Oh!! What a confidence! and What a creativity!

I loved these kids so much and I salute them.

Crochet Earrings
Fig 1

Hello friends,
In this week I made these crochet earrings. I just loved the original pattern for bracelet,
and I decided to use it. Now a days there is a fashion of wearing long earrings in India, so I made such long earrings.

Here I used Crochet thread "Hobby India Crochet Tread". Shade No 12.

Pattern: Make ch 4 and tr in first ch. This is our foundation, we have to work on both sides of this foundation.
ch 2 and turn,

Fig 2
Fig 3
Work 2 incomplete dc, 2 incomplete tr and 3 incomplete double tr, it will be as in Fig 3
Then YO pass through 1 st, then pass through 2 sts six times. Two sts will remain as in fig 4. Turn, it will look like Fig 5
Fig 4

Fig 5

Fig 6

Fig 7

Repeat all that is worked in the first part of foundation, then the work will look like Fig 6 and 7. Now three sts are there on the hook.

Work 3 ch tog.

One bead then repeat the whole pattern. Lastly ring of ch 5 and attach to the hook. Make one more.

Fig 8

With the same pattern I made bracelet and earrings set.

Hope that, this video may help you. It is in Marathi but English subtitles are there.

ETC - Enjoy the creativity.

https://alkaandart.blogspot.com/search?q=crochet+baby+cap

These baby booties in this set I made in this week. See fig 2.

The yarn used is Oswal winter special.

The sole is made with 12 chains then 7 dc at both ends and 1 dc on each of the middle ch from both sides. See fig 3 Here we have 34 sts)
Fig 2
Fig 3
Fig 4

Fig 5

Sole is completed in three rounds and the stitches here are 58. Then one round of Back post single crochet (bpsc) in each st, which makes a beautiful corner to the sole. You can see back post double crochet in this video. It is with English subtitles.

After round 4, it will look as in fig 6 with particularly border as in fig 7.
Fig 6

Fig 7

Then the upper part of the booties was made.
Fig 8
Fig 9
Markers are placed in the front part so that we can reduce the sts easily and get the required shape. Fig 8.
After round 10 the booty will look as in fig 9.

Then for belt we first place two markers on the hill side of the booty on 11th sts on both sides.
Make  15 chs attach it at one of the marker then sc on each st between two markers. Make again 15 chains + 5 chs and dc on each st on the 15 chs belt. Continue dc on each st on hill side. Then dc on each of the 15 chs, Same 5chs button hole on other side. The belt will look as in fig 10.
Fig 10
Fig 11
Then attach contrast coloured yarn and make puff of 3 loose incomplete dc and join by sl st in the third st. As in fig 11.
After completing this row it will look as in fig 12. Then if you want to get the puffs vertical in stead of horizontal puffs then you can sew each puff as in fig 13.
Fig 13

Happy crocheting.
