Beautiful Crochet Toran, Door Decor, Bandhanwaar, Gate Parada, Home Decor

 

Hello friends,

19th of this month is the First Day of Marathi New Year called GUDIPADAVA. For detail information about this festival please read,

You may also know that on this occassion a special type of flag is hosted on every house, called GUDHI. I had already published a post on my crochet Gudhi.

So it is a celebration of New Year and hence every one decides to decorate home and put a new door decor to welcome new year and hence I made this Toran.

It's 39" long and 11" wide. It's weight is 145 gm. I used Vardhaman Millenium Yellow, Red and Brown. But Green used is Oswal's Blue Star, little bit thin than Millenium. Hook used is 3.5 mm.

PATTERN: First let's make those Motives or flowers.

With Brown make R1: dc16 in magic loop, cl (First dc is ch3) (16). First dc is always ch3.

R2: (dc1, ch1) 16 times, cl (we have 16 dcs and 16 ch1-spaces). BO.

Join Yellow yarn at any ch1-sp. R3: [5dc-puff in ch1-sp, ch2] 16 times, cl, BO.

Join Green yarn at any ch2-sp R4: ch1, [ in ch2-sp make (sc1, ch3-picot by sl st, sc1 in same ch2-sp), in next ch2-sp make (dc4, ch3-picot by sl st, dc4)] rep 8 times, cl, BO. (We have 8 ch3-picots on upper side and 8 ch3-picot on lower side)Make such 6 motives or as per your need. Join as below noting the right side. Thread big beads in Red yarn and join Red yarn at ch3-picot on upper side. 

R5: [in upper ch3-picot make (dc2, ch1, move 1 bead, ch1, dc2 ) , ch4, sc1 in next lower ch3-picot, ch4] repeat 6 times...... Then we have to join second motif (flower). 

ch5, { Note: Here instead of ch 5 if you make ch10 then it will be easier while joining to toran patti, then this point also can be joint directly as 2 green petals} in upper ch3-picot of second motif make dc2, ch1, join (enlarge the working loop, remove hook, insert in the st behind the 6th bead of first motif and pass the working loop through it) with st behind the bead, ch1, dc2 in the same ch3-picot, ch4, sc 1 in next lower ch3-picot, ch4, 

in next upper ch3-picot of second motif make dc2, ch1, join with st behind the bead, ch1, dc2 in the same ch3-picot, ch4, sc 1 in next lower ch3-picot, ch4, 

                

Then again [in upper ch3-picot make (dc2, ch1, move 1 bead, ch1, dc2 ) , ch4, sc1 in next lower ch3-picot, ch4] repeat 6 times...... 

Repeat this till all motives are joined. BO.

TORAN PATTI: With Yellow make chs (odd in number) as per the required length of Toran. I made 191 but later I realised that 162-163 would be sufficient. 

R1: (dc1, 4dc-puff in next ch, ch1) rep till end, BO.

                                                    

{while making puff make 4 times long sts like dc, there are 9 sts on hook, YO pass through 8, YO pass through 2 sts}

Join Green yarn at first ch1-sp. R2: (dc2 in each gap between 2 puffs) till end, BO. Then join on other side and repeat same on other side.

Then repeat R2 with Red yarn on both sides. BO.

                                         

For decreasing the length of toran patti I folded on both sides and sew the ends and hide nearly 25-30 sts. Or you make live equal space on both sides and then place markers properly.

Then we have to join this Toran patti with those 6 motives. Beforre joining I have to fold on both sides nearly 10 sts and sew as my Patti is more long than that required. Then place markers suitably as to join. I skip 4 (dc2) groups in between 2 green petals that we have to join and in between two motives I have to skip 9 (dc2) groups.. At the mid of these 9 groups we shall join ch5-loop in between 2 motives.

Join Red yarn at first st on lower side.

R: ch1, sc1 in (7) sts, ch 8, join first dc1 of first motif by sc (as pointed in next photo) then sl st on those 8 chs to come back to Toran patti, 

sc1 till marker (4), [join first green open petal, sc1 till other marker (7), join next open green petal, sc1 in (9) sts, ch 5, join ch5-loop, sl st in those ch5, sc1 till marker (9)] 5 times, sc 1 in each till till last open petal of last motif (7), join it, sc1 in (4) sts, ch8, join last open dc of last motif, sl st in each of these 8 sts, sc 1 in remaining (8) sts of toran patti.

LATKAN: I made puff flower Latkans which is matching to the whole Toran.

Puff- Flower: With grenn yarn make R1: in magic loop, tr 12, cl, BO. (First tr is ch4)

Join Yellow yarn at any space between two trebles. R2: ( in sp between 2 trebles make 4dc-puff, ch1) 6 times, cl. Sl st in next ch1-sp.

R3: ch3 (not considered as first dc),{(dc1 in ch1-sp, ch3-picot by sc in between 2 dcs) 2 times in each ch1-sp, 6 times, cl, BO.

Make 7 yellow and 7 red flowers. You can make 14 yellow and 7 red hanging 3 flowers at each place.

Sew these flowers with small white beads 10 beads for yellow flower and 20 for red flower. At corners we need 20 beads for yellow flower and 30 for red flower.
