Crochet Showpiece: Holi Special Decorated Color Boxes, Kumkum Karande, Home Decor,

 

Hello friends,

Today is "Dhulivandan" or "Rangpanchami" in India, a big festival of COLORS. For details please read,

So here I made these colorful Decorative Showpiece. It is a box type in which one can keep different colors. If you are not interested in making so many then just make two, one for Haldi and other for Kumkum. It will be just like Karanda (a special box for Haldi Kumkum).

I use 6 ply yarn, thick yarn like Red Heart in USA, so that the green petals can remain stiff. Hook 3.5 mm. Also I need 22 small beads and 2 big beads. Little bit metal wire is also needed.

PATTERN: R1: In magic loop make dc 15, cl (15) (First dc is always ch3).

R2: (dc2) in each st, cl (30).

R3: Back post dc in each dc, cl (30) (First bodc means bpsc, ch2).

R4: dc1 in each st, cl (30)

R5: [ch11, from second ch make sc1, hdc1, dc2, tr2, ....

dc2, hdc1, sc1, ch1 turn little bit, from first st on other sode make sc1, hdc1, dc2, tr2, .....

dc2, hdc1, sc1. Sl st on first st of opposite side. Ch1, sl st in each st along middle line,...

 sl st 1 in next 3 sts] rep 10 times, cl. (10 leaves made) BO.

FLOWER-LID: With yellow make chs 70

R1: from third ch make hdc 1 in each st (68).

R2: ch3 (first dc), [extended dc in next, .....[Ext dc: YO insert in st, YO get 1 st, there are 3 sts as usual, YO pass through 1 st, (YO pass through 2 sts) 2 times]...

ch3, sc in between two dcs] rep till end.

Now wrap it round properly as shown in video and fix it by sewing at bottom. Left side photo at last shows back side and right side photo shows front side of the flower lid.

Then in a thin metal wire piece thread 10 small beads, 1 big bead then again 1 small bead. Reversely thread the same wire end starting from big bead. Cut the wire and insert at centre. Lastly fix it's end.

Keep this lid on the box we made, it will look beautiful.

Similarly made as many as you want in different colors for Holi, Rangpanchami.
