Crochet Pop-up Tea Coaster, Rose Tea Coaster, Flower Tea Coaster

 

Hello friends,

This is some thing I made for my Grand daughter as per her demand. In our crochet world also there are fashions and trends and now a days these tea coasters are of latest fashion.

This is very simple pattern. I made it in two different variety. One with rose flower and other with same base but different flowers. 

I have used Ganga Desire yarn which I brought with me from India. Hook 2.5 mm. I have tried first on usual needle 3.5 mm but then I realised that it didn't pop up much. I also used metal wire but because it is very thin, I took 4 times for stem of the flower (which generally I used to take single or double wire for stem.

Pattern: Make base with Yellow.

R1: dc9 in magic loop, cl (9)

R2: (dc2) in each st, cl (18)

R3: [dc1 in 1 st, (dc2) in next] 9 times, cl (27)

R4: [dc1 in 2 sts, (dc2) in next] 9 times, cl (36)

R5: [dc1 in 3 sts, (dc2) in next] 9 times, cl (45) BO.

Join Green yarn at any st.

R6: ch1, sc1 in same st, [ch3, sc1 in next] repeat till end, cl BO.

Now let us make small Rose flower: with other color yarn make chs 18.

R1: on 6th ch make dc1 (First V made), [skip 2 chs, V(dc1, ch2, dc1) in next st] 4 times

R2: turn, sc1, ch2 in the next ch2-sp of V, [join by sc1 at the joint of 2 Vs, (dc5) in next ch2-sp of V, last sc in same ch2-sp. BO.

Wrap this to form a good shape. Fix it by stitching with tapestry needle. Make 5 or 6 as per your choice.

Sepal: R1: in magic loop make ch1, sc10, cl.

R2: [ch4, from 2nd ch make sc1, hdc2, hdc1, skip next base-st, sl st in next base-st] 5 times, cl. BO.

Now let's make leaves. Make chs 7.

R1: from 2nd ch make sc1, hdc1, (dc2), hdc1, sc1, in last ch make (sc1, ch2, sc1), then on other side make same means sc1, hdc1, (dc2), hdc1, sc1, lastly sl st in opposite side's st.

Make one leaf for each flower.

Then pass the wire through sepal and flower. Glue them 

Then insert metal wire in the flower, wrap green yarn and also attach leaf in between. 

Then insert the metal wire in Green st of base then fix it by sewing as shown in video or as shown in the following.

When Cup of tea is kept on it. All flowers Pop up like they are ready to bloom.
