Crochet Diya Showpiece, Diya Holder, Candle Holder, Diwali Decoration Ideas, Mahalaxmi's Aasan

 

Hello friends,

In this week I made this beautiful Showpiece. You can use it as Diya Decor if you keep Diya at centre or in Christmas you can keep Candle at centre, it will be candle decor. Other than Diwali or Christmas you can use it as Vase decor. If you simply make petals and two plane rounds as shown in video then it will be best Mahalaxmi's Aasan for Diwali. It's very simple to make and best Diwali gift for your friends.

PATTERN: I use Vardhaman Millenium yarn and 3.5 mm hook. First let's make base.

R1: in magic loop make dc 12, cl. (Note: first dc means ch3)

R2: (dc2) in each st, cl (24)

R3: [dc1 in 1 st, (dc2) next] 12 times, cl (36)

R4 Extra: in front loop of each st make dc 1, cl (36)

R4: Join green yarn at any unworked back loop. [dc1 in 2 sts, (dc2) next] 12 times, cl (48)

R5: [dc1 in 3 sts, (dc2) next] 12 times, cl (60)

R6: [dc1 in 4 sts, (dc2) next] 12 times, cl (72)

R7: [dc1 in 5 sts, (dc2) next] 12 times, cl (84)

BORDER: Join white yarn at any st. ch1. [sc3, ch3-picot] rep till end, cl. 

If you want you can have same border to the central part where we shall keep Diya. Otherwise you can sew beads instead of this border.

Then make one plane piece with same color from R1 to R7 except R4 Extra round. Glue it to Cardboard of same size. Now let us make petals to decorate.

With white yarn make chs 10. Then from second ch make,

R1: sc1, hdc1, dc1, (dc2) in 2 chs, dc1, hdc1, sc1 then in the last ch make (sc1, ch1, sc1) at this ch1-sp place marker, then from other side also make sc1, hdc1, dc1, (dc2) in 2 chs, dc1, hdc1, sc1. Sl st in the first st on opposite side, BO.

R2: Join base color for border. ch1, sc1 in each st till marker (11scs). In ch1-sp of marker make (sc1, ch1-picot, sc1), then again sc1 in each st from other side also. No need to join with first st on other side as it is being glued under cover.

Make such 15-16 petals.Glue all these petals around the plane round we made with cardboard. If you make round of same size with Yellow or with same color as other side of cardboard then you can use it as Laxmi Aasan for Diwali.

Now we shall make Diya (since we are making it as showpice and not simply Diya Holder. This time we make different Diya, it's PANCHARATI (means praying God with 5 flames. Hence we made this Diya with 5 flames.

Diya: R1: In magic loop, dc12, cl.

R2: (dc2) in each st, cl (24)

R3: [hdc1 in 3 st, (hdc2) next] 6 times, cl (30)

R4: Living bread design out make, dc1 in each st, cl (30)

R5: [sc1 in 3 sts, hdc1, (dc2), hdc1] 5 times, cl. Five flame positions fixed. BO.

Join Orange yarn in the space between 2dcs, 

Flame: ch3, dc1, ch1-picot, ch3, sl st in same space, BO. Make such 5 flames.

Now place some card board rounds in the middle part and level it then place this Diya at centre and if you want permenant then glue it. Also glue this on that petals round.

Lastly we shall make some Green leaves along with stem to decorate the middle portion. With Green yarn make [chs 5+3, dc1 in 4th ch, ch3, sl st in 4th ch. Again ch3, dc1 in same place, ch3, sl st. Then make one tight chain keeping yarn under these 2 leaves and hook upside to fix them] rep this till the required length. 

Then either sew it or glue it. I prefer sewing because by glue gun, the glue is hot and stem is so small that it may not be possible not allowing it to twist and glue properly.
