Crochet Lotus Type Doily, 21" wide without metal wire

Hello friends,

This is best doily for festival decoration, particularly on Janmashtami place Shri Krishn Bhagawan on it. On Ganeshotsav you can place Ganeshji's idol, on Laxmiji's idol in Diwali. You can also use them as Tablemat. It is a best Gift you can give any one.

I had already made number of Lotus doilies of different sizes, shown below. Also I had tried to make different designs on base. See the following,....

Diameter of first 5.5", second 8", third 9", forth 14" and last one is 25". But I note that none of my subscribers made this large doily.
Many of my subscribers requested me to make big lotus doily without metal wire. So I am in search of the yarn which remains stiff without wire and finally I got it. It is Ganga's Pound of Happiness which is thick and hence the petals remain stiff. The white and blue above is also made by thick yarn (in USA) and so remains stiff. But for my subscribers the yarn should be easily available in India and hence Ganga. So now I made this green Lotus doily which is with 13" base and 21" diameter outside. It's weight is 351 gm (being thick yarn)
PATTERN: Make a ring of chs 8.
R1: (tr1, ch1) 14 times, cl (First tr is ch4)

R2: (tr 1 on tr-st, tr3 in ch1-sp) 14 times, cl (56)

R3:  (tr1, ch2, skip 1 sts) 14 times, cl (28 ch2-spaces). Sl st till ch1-sp.
R4: (tr2 in ch2-sp, ch2) 28 times, cl. Sl st till ch2-sp
R5: (tr3 in ch2-sp, ch2) 28 times, cl. Sl st till ch2-sp.
R6: (tr4 in ch2-sp, ch2) 28 times, cl. Sl st till ch2-sp.
R7: same as R6.

PETAL: R1: (dc3, ch2, dc3) shell, in each ch2-sp, cl. (We have 28 shells so there will be 14 petals because 14 shells will go down and 14 go up and form 14 petals.
R2: (Shell in each ch2-sp, dc1 on each dc-sts (here 6)) 28 times, cl.

NOTE: that after R2: number of dcs in between 2 ch2-spaces is 12
After R3: number of dcs in between 2 ch2-spaces will be 18.
After R4: number of dcs in between 2 ch2-spaces will be 24.
After R5: number of dcs in between 2 ch2-spaces will be 30.
After R6: number of dcs in between 2 ch2-spaces will be 36. (Second picture below)
After each round number of dcs in between two ch2-spaces will increase by 6. and total number of sts will increase by 28x6=168 sts
Hence it is clear that after R7: number of sts between two ch2-spaces will be 42 and we have to make it's 3 parts, means each part is of 14 sts. Now while working R7, we shall make ch1 after each 14 sts (that will be the mark, where to join petals).
R7: [shell on shell, after ch2-sp we have 3 dcs so work dc1 on 11 sts, ch1, dc1 in 14 sts, dc1 on 11 sts] rep 28 times, cl.
Join pink yarn (of same thickness) at any ch2-sp of shell.
R8: ch1, [(sc2, ch1, sc2) in ch2-sp of shell, sc1 in each st till ch1-sp, sc1 in ch1-sp, sc1 in each st, sc1 in ch1-sp... like this complete one part (out of 28) then working next join at ch1-sp as shown in the video.

Each time we join second ch1-sp with ch1-sp of previous part and so o, but while working last part we have to join 2nd ch1-sp with previous part as usual and join 1st ch1 sp with the first part (out of 28 parts).
After completeing border it wiil look very very beautiful as in image 1 at the top.
The following video with English subtitles may help you.
ETC: Enjoy the Creativity.
