Crochet Car Rakhi, Car Applique

Every year I made different patterns for Rakhi, e.g. Flower rakhi, belt type rakhi for elders, special cartoon rakhi for kids as Peppa Pig, Bear, Chota Bhim etc Then I also realise that kids (boys) like Cars most. So I decided to make Car Rakhi. 

Actually I have made Car applique but it is big and I made it as a patch work on sweater of my grand son.

But for Rakhi I need small car. It's length is 2". I used 4 ply yarn and 1.75 mm hook. So here is the pattern.

Make chs 12.

R1: skip first ch, sc 1 in each of the 10 ch, sc 3 at corner, sc 1 in each st from other side, sc2 at corner.

R2: sl st 1 in side sts, sc 1 in 2 sts, ch5, skip 2 sts, dc1 in next, ch5, skip 2 sts,

sc1 in 6 sts, (sc2) at lower corner, sc 1 in each of the base sts and side sts, sc 4 in ch5-sp, sc1 on dc-st, sc5 in ch5-sp,

sc 1 in each st till lower corner, (sc2) at corner-st, sl sts on each bottom sts, sl st 2 on side-sts.

Thread pearl by 0.5 mm hook, make chs 40+3, 3dc-puff on 4th ch. hide the yarn end and cut.

Join yarn on other side for making cord, thread pearl and make similarly other cord.

With black yarn make sc6 in magic loop, cl, BO. Make two pieces. Sew them properly.

Beautiful Rakhi is ready.

Crochet Applique Teddy Bear / Teddy Bear Rakhi

Hi,
As I said in my last post, I made this another Rakhi for kids and no need to say that it is Teddy Bear Rakhi. Every one knows and specially kids love this Teddy. In fig 1, it is written Rakhi type 10 because since last year till date I made 9 crochet rakhi and this is 10th. Many of them which are simple I have not posted on my blog, but if any body wants to see all of them, he/she can start the video below and in the description box of that you can find web address of all 10 rakhi, I made.

The height of this rakhi is 2.3". It is made in Vardhamaan 4 ply yarn and 1.75 mm crochet hook.
Pattern: In a magic loop make R1: ch1, sc1, hdc 2, sc2, hdc 2, sc1, cl (8 sts)
R2: ch1, sc 2 in each st, cl (16 sts)
R3: ch 1, (sc1, sc2) rep till end, cl, (24 sts). Fig 2.
R4: ch1, (sc1, sc1, sc2) rep till end, cl (32 sts). Fig 3.

Dividing these 32 sts in five parts, place markers as in fig 4. In between blue markers there are 12 sts for head portion and in between yellow markers there are 6 sts for body of bear and on both sides there are 7-7 sts.
For central part of ear join dark brown colour near blue marker as in fig 5.
EAR: R1: ch1, sc 1 in 3 sts,
R2: ch1, hdc 1 in each st, bind off. Similarly make other ear before second blue marker as in fig 6.

Then attach body colour at marker stitch and make,
ch1, sc 1 in each st around the dark coloured ear made, sc 1 in between two ears and lastly sc 1 around second ear also and lastly sl st at the second marker, as in fig 7.
Now for hands we join the body colour at yellow marker.
R1: ch1, sc 1 in each of the next 7 sts including both markers sts. ch1 turn,

HAND: R1: sc 1 in 3 sts, R2: two sc in first st, sc 1 in remaining 2 sts, chh 1 turn  (4 sts)
R3: sc 1 in each st, ch2 turn, (4 sts),
R4: incomplete dc in each st, YO and pass through all of them, BO. Fig 9.
Similarly make other hand as in fig 10.

 Tummy: R1: With white yarn, in amagic loop make ch 1, sc 8, cl (8 sts)
R2: ch1, sc2 in each st, cl (16 sts)
R3: ch1, (sc1, sc2) rep, cl, (24 sts). Bind off. Fig 11.

Feet: With body colour, ch 4,
R1: sc 1 in second and third ch from hook, sc 5 at corner st, sc 1 in two sts from other side, cl by sl st. Fig 12

Make one more foot.

Mouth: With white yarn in a magic loop make ch1, sc 3, dc 3, sc 2, cl.
Make a light embroidery on feet. Sew feet and mouth at proper places. Sew two black beads for eyes. Hide the yarn ends.
The teddy bear applique is ready. Fig 14.
Now for rakhi, we want a belt as in fig 15.
Thread a long bead, make 30 chs + 4 chc, dc 1 on 5th ch, (ch4 turn, dc 1 on 3rd ch) three times. Lastly sl st 2 and chs 30, join one long bead again.
I love this Rakhi and I hope that my grand son will also love it.

Rakshabandhan, Rakhi: Symbol of love and faith for brother

Friends,
Rakshabandhan is a festival in India, having a special importance to the relation between brother and sister. The word itself means Raksha + Bandhan, Raksha means protection and Bandhan means bond. In this festival, sister ties a silky decorated band (those who don't know may imagine as a friendship band) to the wrist of her brother and request him or reminds him that it is his responsibility to protect her, to take care of her. Every sister has faith that if she is in some problem her brother is the man who will help her without fail. Hence I said that tying rakhi is a symbol of love and faith toward her brother. Brother gives some gift to his sister. Fig 2.

This year I made 7 rakhis video for my channel "Kalopasak". All are crochet handmade rakhis. See fig 1. Three rakhis are made specially for kids. Doraemon Rakhi, Chhota Bheem rakhi are the favorite cartoon characters of kids hence I made them and one teddy bear rakhi for toddler brothers.
Fig 3 shows the rakhis I made last year. One more was there in fig 4.

Crochet Butterfly for Home Decor, Applique (Patchwork piece) for Baby Sweater, Butterfly Rakhi

Friends here I have made a beautiful Butterflies. It's very simple and beautiful. Before this also I made butterfly but they get heavy and could not be stick on wall due to their weight. So this time I made light weight butterfly 😁. 

You can also use these butterflies as patchwork and sew them on baby sweater or baby blanket etc.

Then because festival Raksha Bandhan is coming soon, I made Rakhi out of these Butterflies. I hope that kids and Nature's lovers will definitely love these Rakhi.

BUTTERFLY: With 3.5mm hook it's 3" with 2.5mm hook it's 2" and by 1,75 mm it comes out to be 1.8". I mention the size here because if you want to fix them on wall with decreasing size, you can make them.

Let us first see, how to make a Butterfly. Start with white yarn...

Leaving 6" yarn make chs 12, then skip first ch, sc 1 in 7 chs, ch4, leave 6" yarn and BO.

Join red yarn at first st after ch4, we shall make bigger wing here and smaller wing in next st.

Bigger Wing: (ch6, tr tr 1, db tr 3 in the same st, ch5 sl st in the same st). Then make sl st in next st for smaller wing.

Smaller Wing: (ch5, db tr 3 in the same st, ch5 sl st in the same st) 

From back side make ch2 and get the working loop out at the second st from ch4 on other side. Now I have to make smaller wing first and then bigger wing that too in reverse order.

Smaller wing: (ch5, db tr 3, ch5, sl st all in the same st), sl st in first st from white ch4.

Bigger wing: (ch5, db tr 3, tr tr 1, ch 6, sl st all in the same st), BO. 

If you want to attach beads then leave some yarn end and sew beads.

Lastly hide the white yarn by tapestry needle.

RAKHI: For Rakhi only I have to make additional cords to tie on both sides. So I made chs 40-50 and then 3dc-puff or you can also have beads at the ends.

Braided Rakhi Design and Three Rings Rakhi Design

 

Hello friends,

Look at these two Rakhi designs, they seem to be similar type but very different designs. Left one is little bit difficult, intermmediate level where as right one is very simple for beginners type design. So let us see the right one first.

In both types use 4 ply yarn and 1.75 mm hook.

For 3 Ring Design: R1: with red yarn make ring of ch 8. Then dc 20 in the ring (First dc is always ch3)

Then with yellow yarn make ch8, insert in the red ring already made then make sl st to form a ring.

Now make dc 20 in the same ring. Pull the yellow ring up whenever necessary. cl, BO.

Also thread bead and make chs 50, 3dc-puff as a cord.

If you want, you can finish the rakhi at this stage also making red cord on other end.

Lastly again with yellow yarn make third ring as second one. 

Sew beads where ever you like them. Make cord as usual.

For another Braided Rakhi ...

Make chs 35. From second ch make, sc1, hdc1, dc30, hdc1, sc1, BO

                                                 

Similarly make one more strip with contrast color.

                                                      

Place the strips as shown and fold them as shown.

Folding the strips and inserting in each other is little bit tricky, but practice will make it perfect.
