Crochet Doily with Lotus Border for Mahalaxmiji in Diwali, Beautiful Tablemat

 

Hello friends,

Hope that you are dealing with Ganapati Decoration and Mahalaxmi Pujan. Seeing your interest in Lotus and Lotus related projects, I made so many Lotus related projects. I had already made actual real Lotus, watch my blog, https://alkaandart.blogspot.com/search?q=lotus+flower

Initially I made real Lotus flower by crochet all subscribers loved it, they gave very nice comments too but many of them didn't make it. 

So recently I made Lotus appliques of 3 types which are very simple and many projects using them just as Diya Holder, Wall hanging, Show piece, Decorative items, Toran, Doily etc. Number of my subscribers made various items using these appliques.

Most of them I have posted on this blog also. Now I am giving the pattern of Doily with Lotus Border. It is said that Mahalaxmi's Aasan (Sitting place) is Lotus because Lotus represents purity, spiritual growth and detachment from worldly greed. 

We had many doilies as Aasan for Mahalaxmiji just as,

The one shown on the top is with Border of real lotus flowers, looks very very pretty. So let's see it's pattern. It's diameter is 16.5" and weight 90 gm. I used Loops and Threads yarn and Green is Vardhaman Millenium, hook 3.5 mm.
LOTUS: With white make,

R1: from second ch, sc1, hdc1, dc1, (dc2) in next 2 sts, dc1, hdc1, sc1, in last ch make (sc1, ch1, sc1), place marker at ch1-sp, then from other side also make sc1, hdc1, dc1, (dc2) in 2 sts, dc1, hdc1, sc1, lastly sl st in first st on opposite side. 

R2: ch1, sc1 in each st till marker (you have to make 11 scs), at marker make (sc1, ch1-picot, sc1) then on other side also make sc1 in each st (11), BO.

Make such 7 petals for one flower and glue them properly by Glue Gun. Make as many flowers as you want. I made only 6. Sew bead or button at centre and join them by beads.

LEAF: With Green yarn make,

R1: in magic loop ch3, tr3, dc4, tr1, dc4, tr3, ch3, sl st in magic ring.

R2: sc2 in ch3-sp, (dc3) on each tr-st, dc1 in next 3 dc-sts, (dc2) on next dc-st, (dc3) on tr-st, (dc2) next, dc1 in 3 dc-sts, (dc3) on each tr-st, sc2 in ch3-sp, cl, BO.

Make 7 petals and 1 leaf for one lotus. Join them as shown by sewing or by glue gun. I made 6 lotus.

Then sew one bead at the centre of each lotus. Also join these 6 lotus with beads.

Middle Doily Part: With Green,

R1: dc12 in magic loop, cl (12)             R2:  (dc2) in each st, cl (24)

with white, R3: [4dc-puff in one st, ch3, skip1 st] 12 times, cl.

R4: with Coral color, [dc5 in ch3-sp, dc5 in next ch3-sp, ch1] 6 times, cl. (We have 6 groups of 10 dcs and 6 ch1-spaces)

R5: [(dc2) in first and last dc-st (out of 10 dcs), dc1 in each middle dc-st, ch1] 6 times, cl. (We have 6 groups of 12 dcs and 6 ch1-spaces)

R6: [(dc2) in first and last dc-st (out of 12 dcs), dc1 in each middle dc-st, ch1] 6 times, cl. (We have 6 groups of 14 dcs and 6 ch1-spaces)

Instead of increasing 2 dcs at each end in group of dcs, we may increase 2 dcs at centre. Means in R6 we may work dc5, (dc2) 2 times, dc5 like this.

R7: [(dc2) in first and last dc-st (out of 12 dcs), dc1 in each middle dc-st, ch1] 6 times, cl. (We have 6 groups of 14 dcs and 6 ch1-spaces)

Increase in this way till the lotus round fits around it approximately 9-10 inches. I have to work till R9.

Then join green yarn at white puff og R3 and make ch1, sc1, [ch3, sl st in next ch1-sp] rep till top, sc at the top and BO. Make such 6 green lines along the ch1-spaces. Now sew / glue our lotus so that this green line should become the stem of each lotus.

The most beautiful Aasan with Lotus Border is ready for Mahalaxmiji. Those who don't know about Diwali and all that can use it as a beautiful Tablemat.
