Crochet Doily 10 (Aasan) for Laxmi Pujan 2
Hello friends,
The biggest festival in India, Diwali is in the next month and before that there is Navaratri Pujan (Nine days festival of Goddess) which ends with Dasara. Laxmi Pujan is the main day in 5 days Diwali festival. Importance of Laxmi pujan and other information about the day can be found at,
It is said that Laxmi always sits on Lotus, so we say Lotus is Goddess Laxmi's Aasan (rug type, on which we use to sit). Hence I made 9 different Aasan whose design on, one or other way resembles with Lotus. The first one in this series is Blue posted here,
This is the second in that series. I used 4 ply yarn and 3.5 mm crochet hook.
Pattern: Ring of ch 8.
R1: dc20 in the ring, cl. (20 sts) Fig 2
R2: dc 2 in each st, cl (40 sts). Fig 3
R3: (dc2 in one st, dc 1 in next) repeat, cl (60 sts). Fig 4.
Make such 6 pieces. Fig 5.
Keep two pieces with wrong side on wrong side, make sc1, combining both round pieces.
Make sc 1 (on one round piece separately) in 18 sts. Fig 6. Skip 18 sts on other connected round and again join both by sc1 in 19th st, turn. Fig 7.
Make sc 1 in 18 sts on second circle in between.
Continue making sc 1 on each of the next 18 sts. Join third round by sc 1 in 19th st of second circle. Fig 8.
Make sc 1 in 18 sts of third circle towards the centre. Join at centre.
Continue sc 1 in 18 sts on third circle.
Join forth circle (fig 9) and so on …..
Once all 6 circles are joint, it will look as in fig 10.
Then make border of sc 1 in outer remaining sts.
The beautiful doily as in figure 1 is ready. I placed Goddess Laxmi's idol on that.
The following video with English subtitles may help you in making this.
ETC: Enjoy the Creativity.
