Crocheted Laxmi's Footprint

Fig 1
Hello friends,
My reader out of India may not undersatnd, what is this? In Indian culture this is tradition to draw feet of Goddess Laxmi. In Maharashtra the feets of Goddess Laxmi are dailly drawn by Rangoli either near Tulsi tree in backyard or at prayer place in home as a symbol of prosperity, enrichment and happiness. It is supposed that keeping or drawing and worshinpping such feet in an incoming position brings all types of prosperity and happiness in our home.

My friend Pratibha Kulkarni0., one of the subscribers of my youtube channel "Kalopasak" suggested me to crochet such feet (as she wanted to make them for her marriage Rukhawat). Hence I made it. Through this post I wanted to thank her for inspiring me to do this project.

To show that some one worshipped them, I put some termeric and kumkum (yellow and red small cut wool) on the feet and also night Jasmine or some more flowers.
The night jasmine flowers I have already made and the link of that post is here,

I use pink and red (you may use dark pink as in fig 1) 4 ply wool and 2.5 mm crochet hook.
With red it will look as in fig 2.

Simple Crochet Round Bag
Fig 1
Hi,
Yesterday I made this simple crochet bag. The bag is designed so that any one who have newly started crocheting, should also be able to make it. Though it is easy to make and just for beginners, still it looks beautiful.

I made it in Canon one pound wool with red and cream colour with 5 mm crochet hook. You may use any 6 or 8 ply wool. It's final measurement is, 11" in diameter.

If you use our usual 4 ply yarn and 3 or 3,5 mm hook with same design, you may get beautiful bag but smaller in side.

Here we have made simple crochet belt for this bag but if you use any ready made wooden or metalic handle for the bag, it will look more beautiful. But in that case only linen should be stiff.

Fig 3
Pattern:
R1: In a magic loop make ch 3, dc 15, close by sl st in 3rd ch. (16 sts)
R2: ch 3, dc 1 in same st, dc 2 in each st till end, close by sl st. (32 sts). Join cream color yarn,
see fig 2.
R3: ch 3, incomplete dc 2, YO pass through all sts, (ch 2, skip 1 st, 2dctog in next st) repeat till end, ch 2, close by sl st, (16 ch2-gaps). Join red yarn, fig 3.

unsewed (open) with one part so that this joint should be at bottom of the bag. Sew other part also.

Then make 3 pendants of 27, 30 and 33 chains respectively, attach one bead at each end, tie the three and attach at the centre of the bag.

Similarly make 3 more pendants and attach to other side.

Beautiful Plate Decor, Meherap, Toran Design
Fig 1
Hi,
My new creation is this plate decor (Meherap).
I have already explained about plate decor and it's uses in Indian culture, please read,
https://alkaandart.blogspot.com/search?q=plate+decor
and
https://alkaandart.blogspot.com/search?q=beaded+rangolies

It is made in 4 ply wool with 3.5 mm crochet hook.

Pattern:
Start with chains (ch) 180 or as per your need to cover the round around the plate, plus 3 chs extra as a first double crochet (dc).
R1: dc 1 in each of 8 sts, dc 2 in next, (dc 1 in each of the 9 sts, dc 2 in next) repeat (198 sts), ch 3 turn. See fig 2.
Fig 2
Fig 3

R2: dc 1 in each of the 9 sts, dc 2 in next, (dc 1 in each of the 10 sts, dc 2 in next) repeat (216 sts) ch 4 turn,
R3: skip one st then dc 1 in the next st, (ch 1, skip 1 st, dc 1 in next) repeat, (107 loops).
Fig 3.
Fig 4

Fig 5

Fig 6
Now for this design we want multiple of 8 plus 1 loops that is 8x13=104+1 there are 105 loops. But we have 107 loops so we skip first and last loop.

R4: Ch 3 turn, (consider as first dc), dc 3 in loop, dc 1 on previous row dc, ch 7, skip 3
loops and join by single

Fig 7
crochet (sc) in 4th loop, see fig 4,[turn the work, and make 8 sc on 7 chains, sc 1 on next st, fig 5, ch 3, see fig 6, turn dc 1 on the same st, dc 2 on the next st (out of scs), dc 1 on next st, (that is on 3 sts out of 8 sc we make 5 dcs)] fig 7, ch 7 join by sc in the same loop, from [ to ] 4 times}, then dc 4 in 4th loop (skipping 3 loops), dc 1 on the dc of previous row. See fig 8.
Fig 8
Then repeat { to }all above till the whole length is over. Finally it will look as in fig 9.
Fig 9

Further if you want you can decorate this by sewing beads as you like.

Two Colored 3D Tea Coaster / Table Mat / Purse / Pouch
Fig 1
Fig 2
Fig 3
Hello friends,
Fig 4
In my previous post I have shown the tea coaster I made. This is another version of that with two different colors, fig 1, and Back post double crochet instead of chains in the previous tea coaster.
Here is the link to the tea coaster's post of my blog,
https://alkaandart.blogspot.com/search?q=tea+coaster

In two colors it looks beautiful. This is not only tea coaster as in fig 4, we can use it as a table mat for flower pot in our guets room, see fig 2, or we can make a small purse by folding it along the diameter. Only then we have to place linen and zip. Also make a small haddle as shown in fig 3.

One more tea coaster I made in red and white combination. See fig 5.

Fig 5
Wool used is 4 ply red and green with crochet hook 3.5 mm.
Pattern:

R1: With red (R) yarn, in a magic loop ch 3 (first dc), double crochet (dc) 11, close by slip stitch (Sl St) in 3rd chain (ch).

To see how to join different color in between crochet work, please see,

R2: With green (G) yarn, BPsc 1 on first dc (ch3), ch 2, [with R yarn, (FPdc 1, ch 1, FPdc1) on next dc, with G yarn BPdc1] 5 times, (FPdc 1, ch 1, FPdc1) on next dc, close

R3:  With G yarn, BPsc 1 on first dc, ch 2, [with R yarn, FPdc 1, (dc1, ch 1, dc 1) in next ch 1- gap, FPdc1 on next dc, with G yarn BPdc2 on next BPdc (in all 2BPdc)] repeat, close

R4: With G yarn BPsc 1 on first dc, ch 2, [with R yarn FPdc 1 in next 2 dcs, (dc1, ch 1, dc 1) in next ch 1- gap, FPdc1 on next 2dcs, with G yarn BPdc2 in next BPdc, BPdc 1 in next BPdc (in all 3 BPdc)] repeat,  close
Fig 6

Fig 7
R5:  With G yarn, BPsc 1 on first dc, ch 2, [with R yarn, FPdc 1 in next 3 dcs, (dc1, ch 1, dc 1) in next ch 1- gap, FPdc1 on next 3dcs, with G yarn, BPdc2 in next first and last BPdc, BPdc 1 in each of middle BPdc, (in all 5 BPdc)] repeat,  close
After this round it

will look as in fig 6

R6:  With G yarn, BPsc 1 on first dc, ch 2, [with R yarn, FPdc 1 in next 8 dcs, with G yarn, BPdc2 on first and last BPdc and BPdc 1 in middle BPdc (in all 7 BPdc)] repeat, close. After this round, see fig 7.

Hi,
This tea-coaster I made in last week. When I worked 3D crochet jacket and cap, at once I got an idea to make tea coaster and the idea came out so beautiful!
As a tea coaster, I have to make 6 like this but then I decided to keep this as a flower pot base table mat and it looks wonderful in both cases. Fig 2 and 3.
With 4 ply yarn and 3,5 mm crochet hook, it came out 6" in width. For tea coaster if you want smaller size then with the same patter and 2 mm hook you can have the smaller size.

Pattern:
R1: In a magic loop ch 3 (first dc), double crochet (dc) 11, close by slip stitch (Sl St) in 3rd chain (ch).
R2: BPsc 1 on first dc (ch3), ch 2, [(FPdc 1, ch 1, FPdc1) on next dc, BPdc1] 5 times, (FPdc 1, ch 1, FPdc1) on next dc, close (18 sts)
