Crochet Doily 11 for Laxmi Pujan (Navaratri) 3

Hi, This is the third doily in the series of 9. For this I used 4 ply yarn and 3.5 mm hook. It's width is 8" and weight 45 gm. Pattern: Note that first dc will be always ch 3. R1: In a magic loop, ch1, hdc 10, cl (10 sts) R2: dc 2 in each st, cl (20 sts) Fig 2. R3: (dc1, ch1) rep, cl (20 dcs and 20 Ch1-sps). Fig 3 R4: (dc 1 on dc st, ch 2) rep, cl. (20 dcs, 20 ch2-sps). Fig 4 R5: (dc2 on previous round dc st, ch1) rep, cl. Fig 5

R6: shell in each ch1-sp. (shell means dc 3, ch2, dc 3), cl. Fig 6. R7: dc1 on each of the 3 dc sts, shell 1 in each ch2-sp of shell in previous round, cl. Fig 7. R8: dc 1 on 3 sts, ch1, dc1 on 3 sts, (shell on shell, dc 1 on 3 sts, ch 1, dc 1 in 6 sts, ch1, dc 1 in 3 sts) rep, cl. Fig 8.

Border: Join yellow yarn in ch2-sp of shell, make (sc 2, ch 1, sc 2) in that gap, sc 1 in each st and in each ch1-sp, in ch2-sp of shell make (sc2, ch1, sc 2), sc 1 in each st and in ch1-gap till the second ch1 sp after shell is there, make these much scs as shown in fig 9, then Remove hook from the st, insert in sc 1 of ch1-sp (where to join) pass the working st through this st. Fig 10 Continue doing sc 1 as early till second ch1-sp is there, join that with the ch1-sp skipped. Note that once we have to join with upper part of the petal and second time we have to join with the lower part of the petal. Fig 11.

Crochet Doily For Laxmi Pujan (Navaratri) 9:

Friends, This is my last Aasan (thing used to sit) for Goddess Laxmi. As told in the first post in this series of Lotus based doilies (Aasan) that lotus is thing on which Goddess Laxmi use to sit. Naturally my last piece in this series is real Lotus flower. Actually I had made the complete set, means lotus flower, bud and leaf as in second figure. But as the aasan of Goddess, it is lotus flower as shown in fig 1. The lotus I have made is based on Natagor Finlayson's this lotus. Changes are made according to the yarn. For this I used 4 ply yarn and 1.75 mm crochet hook. Pattern: Petal: Ch 21. R1: From second ch, make sc 1 in each of 4 sts, hdc 1 in 3, dc 1 in 2, tr in 1 st, dc 1 in 3 sts, hdc 1 in 3 sts, sc 1 in 4 sts, at corner st, (sc1, ch1, sc1),

R2 on other side: sc 1 in 4 sts, hdc 1 in 3, dc 1 in 1 st, dc2 in each of the next 2 sts, dc1 in 2 sts, hdc 1 in 3 sts, sc 1 in 4 sts. Again at corner (sc1, ch1, sc1).

R3: on other side: sc 1 in 4 sts, hdc 1 in 3 sts, dc 1 in 2 sts, (dc2) in each of the next 2 sts, dc 1 in next, hdc 1 in 3 sts, sc 1 in 5 sts, at corner (sc1, ch1, sc1).

R4: on other side: sc 1 in 5 sts, hdc 1 in each of the middle st till 5 sts remain, sc 1 in each of the last 5 sts, at corner (sc1, ch1, sc1).

R5: on other side:sc 1 in 6 sts, hdc 1 in each of the middle sts, sc 1 in last 5 sts, at corner (sc1, ch1, sc1).

R6: on other side: Insert wire in this round. sc 1 in first and last 6 sts, hdc 1 in each of the middle sts, at corner make sc 3 in previous ch1-gap,

R7: on other side: sc 1 in first and last 6 sts, hdc 1 in each middle sts, lastly sc 1 on the first st of other side, bind off and cut the yarn keeping 5-6 inches yarn end and cut wire also keeping 1". Twist the wire ends. Put some fabric fevicol on that and wrap the yarn over it. One petal is ready. Make 11 petals more, if you want you can make more than 11 also to get dense flower.

Central Seed Pod (yellow part):R1: In a magic loop make ch1, sc 5, cl (5 sts) R2: ch1, sc 2 in each st, cl (10 sts) R3: ch1, (sc2, sc1) rep, cl (15 sts) R4: ch1, (sc2, sc 1 in 2 sts) rep, cl (20 sts)

R5: ch1, (sc2, sc1 in 3 sts) rep, cl (25 sts) R6: ch1, sc 1 in back loop of each st, cl (25 sts)

By embroidery make dots 5 in inner round, 5 in middle round and 5 in outer round.

R7: ch3, dc 1 in back loop of each st, cl (25 sts) R8: (dc 1 in 3 sts, 2dctog next) rep,, cl (20 sts) R9: (dc1 in 2 sts, 2dctog) rep, cl (15 sts)

R10: (dc1, 2dctog) rep, cl (10 sts). Fill fiber in that.

Now for Stamen: Cut 30 pieces of dark colour yarn with length more than the double of the height of this seed pod. I cut 4.5" each R11: Make sc 1 in each st taking 3 pieces of cut yarn. repeat around, cl, bind off. From embroidery side cut these yarn pieces uniformly. Put some fevicol on broad wire and insert in this seed pod.

Now first paste each petal by fevicol and then fix it by wrapping green yarn. Shape the petals with the help of wire properly.

The beautiful Lotus flower is ready. If you want you can fold 5 petals inside as in fig 2.

Crochet Doily 13 for Laxmi Pujan (Navaratri) 5

Hello friends, This is the fifth doily (Aasan) I made for Goddess Laxmi. This is based on puff stitch. It's weight is 46 gm and diameter 11".I used 4 ply yarn and 3 mm crochet hook. Pattern: Make a ring of 4 ch. R1: In a magic loop (puff 1, ch2) 6 times, cl by sl st in first puff. Fig 2. Puff: (YO insert in a magic loop, YO get 2 long sts) 3 times, there are 7 sts on hook, YO and pass through all 7 sts, ch1 to fix it. R2: sl st in ch2 sp. [(puff 2, ch2) in ch2 space, ch2] 6 times, cl. Fig 3.

R3: [(puff 1, ch2) 3 times in ch2-sp in between two pairs of 2 puffs] rep, cl. Fig 4. Note that in every round ch2-spaces after 3 puffs will be kept as it is.

R4: [There are 2 gaps between 3 puffs, make 3 puffs in first gap seperated by ch2 then ch2, puff 1 in second gap, ch2] rep, cl. Fig 5.

R5: sl st in ch2-sp, [puff 3 in first ch2sp, ch2, puff 1 in next ch2 sp, ch2, puff 1 in next, ch2, skip next gap] rep, cl. Fig 6 above. R6: sl st in next ch2-sp, [ puffs 3 in first ch2-sp, seperated by ch2, puff 1 in each of next ch2-gap till skipped ch2- space, seperated by ch2, lastly ch2, skip the next sp] rep, cl. Repeat this round till there are 10 puffs in each petal. Fig 7.

For border, join red yarn at first ch2-sp in between 3 puffs, [make puff 1 join by sc 1 in next ch2-sp] rep 9 times, [ch3, join by sc 1 in lower puff st] rep till we reach first round, see fig 8, then [ch3, join by sc1 in upper puff] rep till we reach upper most round. Fig 9.

Crochet Samai Rangoli 9: Handmade Home Decor: Samai Decoration

 

Hello friends, 

Here is the nineth and the last Samai Rangoli I had made this year beacause I have decided to make nine for Navaratri Mahotsav (Festival of 9 days). For details about this festival please read,

For this I used Tunisian crochet technique. Yarn is Vardhamaan Millenium and hook 

Pattern: 

Ring of chs 60 with cream color.

R1: (dc1 in 4 sts, dc2 in next) 12 times, cl (72 sts).

R2: Join green yarn in any st. ch1, [sc 1 in 3 sts, ch4, remove hook, insert in first sc-st and pass the working loop through this, (ring of ch4 is made)

ch2, insert hook in second ch from hook, YO get one st, insert hook in ch4-ring, YO get one st. Now 3 sts on hook, YO pass through 1 st,  (Yo pass through 2 sts) 2 times, ch1.

R2: insert hook in the vertical strand, YO get 1 st, insert hook in the last gap, YO get 1 st, insert hook in ch4-ring, YO get  1 st. (there are 4 sts on hook). 

YO pass through 1 st,  (Yo pass through 2 sts) 3 times, ch1.

R3: (insert hook in the vertical strand, YO get 1 st) 2 times, insert hook in the last gap, YO get 1 st, insert hook in ch4-ring, YO get  1 st. (there are 5 sts on hook).

 YO pass through 1 st,  (Yo pass through 2 sts) 4 times, ch1.

R4: (insert hook in the vertical strand, YO get 1 st) 3 times, insert hook in the last gap, YO get 1 st, insert hook in ch4-ring, YO get  1 st. (there are 6 sts on hook).

YO pass through 1 st,  (Yo pass through 2 sts) 5 times, ch1.

R5:( insert hook in the vertical strand, YO get 1 st) 4 times, insert hook in the last gap, YO get 1 st, insert hook in ch4-ring, YO get  1 st. (there are 7 sts on hook). 

YO pass through 1 st,  (Yo pass through 2 sts) 6 times, ch1.

R6:( insert hook in the vertical strand, YO get 1 st) 5 times, insert hook in the last gap, YO get 1 st, insert hook in ch4-ring, YO get  1 st. (there are 8 sts on hook). 

YO pass through 1 st,  (Yo pass through 2 sts) 7 times, ch1.

R7:( insert hook in the vertical strand, YO get 1 st) 6 times, insert hook in the last gap, YO get 1 st, insert hook in ch4-ring, YO get  1 st. (there are 9 sts on hook). 

YO pass through 1 st,  (Yo pass through 2 sts) 8 times, ch1.

R8:( insert hook in the vertical strand, YO get 1 st) 7 times, insert hook in the last gap, YO get 1 st, insert hook in ch4-ring, YO get  1 st. (there are 10 sts on hook).

YO pass through 1 st,  (Yo pass through 2 sts) 9 times, ch1.

Make ch3-picot, 

sl st in each vertical strand, sl st in last gap, sl st in ch4-ring.

R2 to R9 one petal made.

Then make sc1 in 3 sts and repeat till end. Cl.

Repeat this all around, the beautiful Samai rangoli is ready.
