Beautiful Crochet Diwali Special Diya Doily, Aasan for Laxmiji

 

Hello friends,

How are you? hoping doing well and busy in Diwali preparation. I made this Doily as an Aasan for Laxmiji. Previously also I made Diya Doily and Diya Samai Rangoli but those Diyas are 3 dimensional.

This time the doily made has Diyas which are 2 dimensional. It's  diameter is 16.5". and weight 82 gm. For this project I used various types of yarn. Green and White are of Big Twist, Yellow used for Diya is Ganga Desire and Orange is Vardhaman Millenium. Hook is 3.5 mm, Beads 5mm and smaller Golden beads.

PATTERN: First let's make Diya. I had already made one Diya in 3 dimension and now it is in 2 dimensional. With Yellow yarn make,

R1: in magic loop make dc7, cl. ch1, sc2 in last dc, sl st at centre, for flame make ch3, incomplete dc 2, ch3, sl st at centre, sc2 in first dc.

R2: ch3 (as first dc), dc1 in gap, (dc2) in 5 dc-sts, lastly dc1 in gap, dc1 in last st, (total 14 dcs, 2 on each 7 sts) sl st 1 in 4 sts (horizontally), sl st at centre, sl st 1 in 4 st on other side, BO.

Join Orange yarn at centre, ch1, sl st 4 along right side of flame, ch1-picot, sl st 4 on other side of flame, sl st at centre. BO. 

Make such 9 Diyas.

Now let's start to make doily. With White yarn make,

R1: dc12 in magic loop, cl. (12)

R2: (dc2) in each st, cl (24)

R3: [dc1 in 1 st, (dc2) in next] 12 times, cl (36)

R4: [dc1 in 2 sts, (dc2) in next] 12 times, cl (48)

R5: [dc1 in 3 st, (dc2) in next] 12 times, cl (60)

Join Green yarn at any st,

R6: [dc1 in 4 st, (dc2) in next] 12 times, cl (72)

Now in next round we attachthose 9 Diyas, for that join Orange yarn at any st. We shall join them as shown below.

R7: ch1, [sc1 in 7 sts, join Diya in next st, (keep wrong side of doily part on wrong side of Diya and join.)] 9 times, cl.

Then join all Diyas with it's neighbour Diya by beads in between. Choose size of the beads as per your need. 

Now out of 14 dcs of R2 of Diya, first and last are hidden in between there are 12 dc-sts, skip 4 on both sides and we shall make sc1 on middle 4 sts. So join Yellow yarn at 5 visible dc-st

R8: [sc1 in 4 dc-sts of Diya, ch12] 9 times, cl. BO.

Join Green yarn at first dc on sc-st.

R9: [dc1 on 4 sc-sts, dc15 in ch12-sp] 9 times, cl. (179 sts) BO.

Join White yarn at any st.

R10: ch1, sc1 in same st, [ch7 skip 5 sts, sc1 next, ch2, skip 2 sts, sc1 next] rep till end, cl. Sl st in next ch7-sp.

(19 ch7-spaces and 19 ch2-spaces)

R11: [dc14 in ch7-sp, join by sc1 in ch2-sp] 19 times, cl, BO.

Join Orange yarn at the space between first and second dc (out of 14). In this last round we shall work in between these 14 dcs. There are 13 gaps between these 14 dcs.

R12: ch1, [sc1 in the space between 1st and 2nd dcs, (dc1 in next gap, ch3-picot by sc in between previous gap between 2 orange dcs) 11 times, sc1 in the last gap between 2 dcs, sl st on white sc-st] 19 times, cl, BO.

Then if you want to make Swastik symbol then make two pieces of chs 17 and glue them at centre to form a swastik symbol.

The beautiful doily / Aasan as shown in top most photo is ready.
