How to Make Solomon Knot Triangle? Summer Triangular Shawl by Solomon Knot

 

Hi,

February arrived and summer is knocking the door. Actually in Vidarbh region (where I live) and it is impossible to wear any shawl. So I want to make shawl, just as a fashion to wear in summer, very lacy and open to air. Hence I choose Solomon knot design for this.  Totally lacy and airy.

In the first part I have shown, How to make Solomon knot triangle. 

I used 4 ply yarn Ganga Winter King yarn and 3.5 mm hook.

R1: Make SK 4 join with the beginning sc,

R2: (make SK 3, join with sc to form square) 2 times, (refer the diagram).

Make 1 extra SK to get the stitch up

Use following diagram to make SK and join at proper place.

R3: Make 3 SK join to for corner square, (make SK2, join to form a square), SK3 join to form the corner square.

Make 1 extra SK to get the stitch up (see the diagram).

R4: Make 3 SK join to for corner square, (make SK2, join to form a square) 2 times, SK3 join to form the corner square

Make 1 extra SK to get the stitch up

R5: Make 3 SK join to for corner square, (make SK2, join to form a square) 3 times, SK3 join to form the corner square

Make 1 extra SK to get the stitch up

R6: Make 3 SK join to for corner square, (make SK2, join to form a square) 4 times, SK3 join to form the corner square

In this way one middle square increases in each row and the size of the triangle increases.

Make as long as you wish.

The diamensions of this is length 67"and height 30". Weight 150 gm.

BORDER: For border join contrast colour yarn at the end of long side.

Petal: [4dctog, (first dc as sc1, ch2), ch4, 

  
remove hook, insert in second ch of first dc by sl st, a ring formed. 

Make petal in this loop (ch4, 2 incomplete dc, YO pass through all, ch1 to fix it, ch3, sl st in the ring).

Make 5 such petals means total 6 petals.

After the sl st of the last petal make SK 2, 

skip one joint and join by sc in the next joint] 

  

repeat this till end, BO.

Then make 6" tassels and attach them as per your choice.
