Beaded Doily for Home Decor or Chaitra Gauri / Table mat / Thalposh / Mandalam
Hello friends, This doily I made for Chaitra Gaur. In Maharashtra, the first month of Marathi calender is "Chaitra" and the first day of Marathi New Year is, "Gudhipadava". It is celebrated in each home and in this month ladies arrange get together and make beautiful decoration around the idol of Goddess. This mat can be used as a rug for Goddess, as shown in the photo.
Pattern:
R1: dc 16 in a magic loop, cl the loop and cl by sl st in third ch. (16 sts)
Note: First dc in each round is ch3
R2: dc2 in each st, cl (32 sts)
R3: (dc1, ch1) rep, cl (32 dcs, 32 ch1-sps)
R4: (dc 1 on dc, dc1 on ch1-sp) rep, cl (64 sts)
R5: dc 1 in each st, cl (64 sts)
R6: (dc1, ch1) rep, cl (64 dcs, 64 ch1 sp)
R7: (dc 1 on dc-st, dc1 in gap) rep, cl, (128 sts)
R8: dc 1 in each st, cl (128 sts)
Now make a knot and join new yarn in which beads are already threaded.
Work next round from back side or wrong side.
R9: (sc 1, sc 1 with bead) rep till end, cl (64 beads in a round)
R10: (sc 1 with bead, sc 1 in next st) rep till end, cl.
Watch the right side and see that new bead worked should be in between two beads of previous round.
R11 and R12: same as R9 and R10.
R13: sc 1 in the front loop of each st, cl (128 sts)
R14: ch2, (hdc 1 in back loop of 7 sts, hdc 2 in back loop of next) rep, cl, (144 sts)
R15: dc 1 in each st, cl (144 sts)
R16: ch1, (sc 1 in 9 sts, ch5, skip 3 sts) rep till end, cl (12 ch5-loops)
R17:[ sc 1 in 7 sts (skipping first and last sc out of 9 in previous round), dc10 in ch5-loop] rep till end, cl.
R18: sl st till centre of all scs, [ch1, (bpdc 1 next dc, ch1) 10 times, skip 2 sts, sc 1 in next 2 sts] rep till end, cl
