Fig 1
Hello friends,
Specially for Ganesh Chaturthi or a festival season, I made different crochet items required for Puja or God's worship. Here is Niranjan, a special type of lamp which burns with ghee and cotton wick, for details please see my post,

Ghee and cotton wick soaked in ghee is placed above and it is lightened. About wicks also I have said in above post of my blog.
Fig 3 shows that how Niranjan a special type of lamp is used in God's worship in India. You can also see  stand ofr incense stick as I have explained in previous post.
Here is how crochet Niranjan is made.
I use 4 ply yellow wool and 2.5 mm crochet hook.
Pattern: Make 20 chains (ch) with yellow yarn and join by sl st with the first ch to form a ring.
R1: ch 2 , half double crochet (hdc) in each st, join by sl st to the first hdc. Pass the st on hook to the bottom base by slip st (20 sts).
R2: ch 1, single crochet (sc) 1 in each st (20 sts)
R3: Ch 2, (2hdctog) repeat till end close. (10 sts)
R4: ch 1, (2sctog)  repeat close, (5sts)
R5: ch1, sc 2 in each st, close (10 sts)
R6: As R5. (20 sts)
R7: ch 1, (sc 2 in next st, sc 1 in each of the next 2 sts) repeat till end close (26 sts) BO.
Lastly crab stitch border at the bottom.
Wick: With white yarn make ch 1, sc 6 in a magic loop, close with sl st in first sc.
R1: ch 1, sc 2 in each st close (12 sts)
Bring the yarn and st toward the centre by sl st and take it out at the centre, ch 5 and sl st 1 in each st from second st from hook. BO.
Now join yellow yarn at the top ch of the central 5 chs. Make ch 4 and incomplete dc 3 in the first ch, Yarn over and pass through all of them. Close to form a flame.
Ghee: Cut small pieces of scrab white yarn as small as you can and spread it over the upper deep portion as a ghee then put a wick in that.

The following video may help you to make this.

ETC: Enjoy the Creativity.
