Karanji, Gujia: On Special Occasion of Ganesh Chaturthi:
Fig 1
Hello friends,
In previous post I made Modak, a a favourite sweet of Ganeshji, God Ganapati. Along with 21 modaks one Karanji is always made and it is called "Murad Poli". It is symbolic to say that come soon next time. Such type of sweet is also made when married daughter comes to her parent's home.

Karanji is also stuffed sweet in which coconut and jaggery mix is inside and the outer covering is of rice flour or wheat flour or maida. Then they are deep fried or now a days baked. Only it differs with Modak in shape. It's shape is semiciecle with beautiful border around.

To make this Karanji by crochet is very very simple task. Just make a flat circle, fold it half way, stuff inside, sew the semi circle shape and then make beautiful border.

Fig 2
Fig 1 shows Karanji with Modak and fig 2 only Karanji.
Round 1: ch3 and dc 12 in magic loop. Ch 3 turn, (12 sts)
R2: dc 2 in each st, close (24 sts), ch 3 turn,
R 3: dc 2 in first st, (dc 1 in next, dc 2 in next st) repeat, dc 1 in last st. Close. Ch 3 turn, (36 sts)
R 4: As R 3. (36+18=54 sts)
R 5: As R 3.  (54+ 27=81 sts)

Fold the piece. Now sew the side by joining inner part of v of a stitches on both sides, till 1" left. Then fill fiber and then sew remaining part.

Border: Ch 1, sc in next st, (3 ch-picot, sc 1 in each of the next 2 sts), sc in the last st if remains.
The following video may help you in making this.

ECT: Enjoy the Creativity.
