Crochet Baby Sweater with Hoody, Baby Set Part 1

Hello friends,

How are you? Crocheting well n! Friends, I made many baby jackets some are sleeve less, some are with sleeves but never knitted Hooded sweater. So here I decide to make hoody.

I use 4 ply yarn and 3.5 mm hook. It's measurements are: Width 10.5", height 11" and weight

PATTERN: With purple color yarn make chs (multiple of 4 plus 3) 55.+1

R1: sc1 in each ch starting from second. After each row here onward I make Ch2 and turn (Don't consider this ch2 as first dc)

R2: (dc 1 in 3 sts, dc2 in next) 13 times, dc 1 in remaining 3 sts. (68 sts)

R3: (dc1 in 4 sts, dc2 next) 13 times, dc 1 in last 3 sts. (81)

R4: (dc1 in 5 sts, dc2 next) 13 times, dc 1 in last 3 sts. (94)

R5: (dc1 in 6 sts, dc2 next) 13 times, dc 1 in last 3 sts. (107)

R6: (dc1 in 7 sts, dc2 next) 13 times, dc 1 in last 3 sts. (120)

R7: (dc1 in 8 sts, dc2 next) 13 times, dc 1 in last 3 sts. (133)

R8: (dc1 in 9 sts, dc2 next) 13 times, dc 1 in last 3 sts. (146). Length of arm hole 3.5".

Now place markers after 19 sts, 35 sts, 38 sts, 35 sts and last 19 sts will remain. Total 146 sts.

R9: dc1 in 19 sts on front side, ch5 ( as under arm sts), skip 35 sts for sleeves, dc 1 in 38 sts on back side, ch5 (underarm, skip 35 sts for other sleeve, dc 1 in 19 sts on other front part.

R10: dc 1 in 19 sts, dc1 in each of the 5 chs, dc 1 in 38 sts, dc 1 in 5 underarm chs, dc 1 in 19 sts. (Total (86) sts.

But for design we need odd number of sts so we increase one st on back side. Number of sts will be 87.

R11: (Right side) dc1, (fpdc1, bpdc1) repeat till end, fpdc in last but one dc (for symmetry on front side we arrange fpdc on both starting and end and that's why I have taken odd number of stitches) lastly dc1.

R12: (Wrong side) dc1 in each st. (87)

R13: (Right side) dc1, (fpdc on fpdc, bpdc on bpdc), dc 1 at last

Repeat rows 12 and 13 till the height is 10.5"

Sleeves: R1: dc 1 in each of the 35 skipped sts, dc 3   extra for underarm, dc1 in 5 under arm sts, dc 3 extra, cl by sl st. (since we work sleeve in round. (46 sts)

R2: (fpdc1, bpdc1) rep around, cl.

R3: dc 1 in each st, cl

Repeat R2 and R3 till the length of sleeve only (decrease 2 sts after every 4 rounds) three times.

Similarly make other sleeve.

Lower Border: With cream color yarn make three rows of (fpdc 1, bpdc 1) on lower part of the sweater.

Button Band: R1: with cream color, ch1, sc3 in each design strip (that is fpdc line and dc line). Leave the neck stitches.

R2: dc1, (fpdc1, bpdc1) rep till end, dc 1 TURN

R3 and R4: same as above.

Buttonhole Band: same as button band leaving the neck stitches.

Then for sleeves also make border. It's simple as there are already stitches.

HOOD: Now join purple color at the first purple st so as to work from wrong side. (leaving the button band and buttonhole band)

R1: dc 1 in each st.

R2: dc1, (fpdc 1, bpdc1) rep till end, dc1

R3: (WS) dc 1 in each st

Repeat R2 and R3 till the height of this part is 8".

Fold the top edge and sew it by sl st from wrong side.

Make border to hoody part, same as the button band border, means first make the row of all scs.

Taking 3 scs in one strip of design and then the border of (fpdc, bpdc). BO.

Then if you want you can make two pompom with cord so that hoody can fit the baby's head.

The beautiful hoody sweater is ready.

ETC: Enjoy the Creativity.
