Hello friends, How are you? Hope doing well.
In previous post I have shown one type of Trug (paradi). Here is the another one which is very very beautiful and still simple to make. I made the base of this in Oval Shape (as first type I made is having circular base. You can make this Paradi in any size. Instead of 11 chs, you mar start with 13 or 15 chs and work 2 or 3 rounds more to get the perfect shape. Increasing rounds is also simple. Keep scs on sides as they are and increase 3 sts on corner part as we generally develop circle.Let us see the pattern....
PATTERN: I used 4 ply yarn and 3.5 mm hook. Length of base is 6", width 4" and height 2".
With Yellow yarn make chs 11+1. Here 9 chs will be side chains and 2 chs for corner development.
R1: Skip first ch, sc 1 in 2nd ch (which is corner ch), then sc 1 in 9 chs, sc3 in last ch (corner), on other side work, sc 1 in 9 sts, sc2 in last corner st (that is first sc-st), cl (total 9+3+9+3=24 sts). Place markers in first and third sc-sts of both corners.
Sl st 1 in order to work from first st out of side's 9 scs and keep the corner separate.
R2: ch1, (sc1 in 9 sts, (sc2 in each of the 3 corner sts) ] 2 times, cl. (9+6+9+6= 30)
R3: ch1, [sc1 in 9 sts, at corner (sc1 in 1 st, sc2 next) 3 times] 2 times, cl. (9+9+9+9= 36).
R4: ch1, [sc1 in 9 sts, at corner (sc1 in 2 sts, sc2 next) 3 times] 2 times, cl. (9+12+9+12= 42).
R5: ch1, [sc1 in 9 sts, at corner (sc1 in 3 sts, sc2 next) 3 times] 2 times, cl. (9+15+9+15=48)
R6: ch1, [sc1 in 9 sts, at corner (sc1 in 4 sts, sc2 next) 3 times] 2 times, cl. (9+18+9+18=54)
R7: ch1, [sc1 in 9 sts, at corner (sc1 in 5 sts, sc2 next) 3 times] 2 times, cl. (9+21+9+21=60)
R8: ch1, [sc1 in 9 sts, at corner (sc1 in 6 sts, sc2 next) 3 times] 2 times, cl. (9+24+9+24=66)
R9: ch1, [sc1 in 9 sts, at corner (sc1 in 7 sts, sc2 next) 3 times] 2 times, cl. (9+27+9+27=72)
R10: ch1, make sc 1 in back loop of each st, cl (72).
R11: [(dc2, ch1, dc2) shell in one st, skip 3 sts] rep till end, cl. (18 shells). First dc means ch3.
R12: sl st till ch1-sp of shell, shell on shell, cl.
R13: same as R12.
Join Green yarn at ch1-sp of shell.
R14: [(dc2, ch2, dc2) in ch1-sp] rep till end, cl. BO.
Now with Green yarn we also make lower border. Join Green yarn at any unworked front loop of R10.
BORDER: Work in front loop only. [sl st in front loop, ch2, hdc 1 in next front loop] rep till end, cl. BO.
Join Red yarn at any ch2-sp of shell.
R15: [(5dc-popcorn in ch1-sp, ch3, sc1 at the joint space of two Green shells, ch3] 18 times, cl, BO.
BELT: With Yellow yarn make ring of ch4, (dc2,ch1, dc2) shell, in the ring, [TURN, sl st in ch1-sp includingthe working yarn, shell in ch1-sp] repeat till the required length.
Sew the belt properly as shown.
The beautiful Trug is ready as in the first photo.
