Crochet Jewellery for Haldi Ceremony in Indian Wedding Part 7: Kamar-Patta / Mekhala / Door Decor

Hello friends, This is the last jewellery in the set which I made for Haldi ceremony in Indian marriage (What it means, I have explained in part 1 of the series). This is known as "Kamar patta / Mekhala/ Waist Band, worn as in fig 2. Variety of designs are there as usual in Kamar patta. One of the traditional is shown in fig 3. It is very special jewellery and worn in a very special occassion. Fig 2.
The design I made for Kamar patta is multipurpose, means those who don't want to make as a kamar patta, can make this as a Door Decor (Toran). Material: 4 ply yarn, beads small and big. Pattern: First we shall make 3 roses in that Waist band. Make chs 70 or as per the size of flower you want. R1: make sc 1 in 8th ch, (ch4, skip 3 sts, sc 1 in next) repeat till end. I got 16 loops. Fig 3,4.
R2: ch1, turn, [dc 7 in each loop, sc 1 on previous row sc, then in next loop] repeat till end.Fig 5, 6.
Then wrap from one end so that on back side it will look as in fig 7 and from front side it will look as in fig 8..
Main Belt: Pattern for belt I will not write here again, as I have already given it in my post of "Kangan" on 17 Sep 2020. See fig 9.
Make such belt till there are 21 beads on each side. Fig 10. Make two such belts, join them on one side. On other side join new yarn and make chs 5, in complete double treble in the mid part of belt and at edge as in fig 11, YO pass through all.
Then make chs for 16" length, at the end make one puff with 7 long stitches. Similar belt on other side also. Then sew three rose flowers as shown in fig 12.
Then make chord of 20 puffs with (puff 1, bead 1) as we made in case of necklace. Lastly make hanging part (Latkan) by threading small (bead 1, ch3) as we made it in case of Arm band.
Make four such cords with 12 small beads and one with 15 beads. Assemble as in fig 1. The beautiful Kamar band or Waist Band is ready. The following video with English subtitles may help you.
