Ganeshji Made by Crochet Leaves Part 1:
Fig 1
Hello friends,
In India, particularly in Hindu religion there are number of Gods, just as Shri Ram, Shivaji, Durga devi etc. But Ganeshji is the God who is worshiped before worshiping any other God. Also in Maharashtra there is great festival of Ganeshji for 10 days and the festival is celebrated both personally and publicly.

The history behind the birth of Ganapati or Ganesh may be found here,
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mythological_anecdotes_of_Ganesha
Also there are number of ways and variety of styles by which the Ganesh idols are created. Leaf Ganesh is one of them. You can view them at,

So when I saw these photos of Ganapati made by leaves, particularly in Fig 2, I decided to make such Ganapati with

Fig 2
crochet and this is the result Fig 1. I change the leaves, instead of Pimpal leaves as in fig 2, I made Jaswand leaves because Jaswand is said to be the favourite flower of Ganesh. Then I also changed the Gandh ( the red spot at the centre of forhead) because male Gods are supposed to put Gandh in U-shape.

There are 8 leaves of four different types made for this Ganesh. Four small leaves, all of same pattern. Then two middle size, one elongated for mouth part and one wide for the body. I used 4 ply wool and 2.5 mm crochet hook.
