Hello friends,
Nearly after a month I am posting on my blog and I really feel sorry for that.
Here is my new creation "Baby Sweater with Collar. Many of my followers requested me to make one collar sweater. So I made this. It's only for 9 to 12 month old baby. Hence I started with chs of length 33 cm. For this I have to make 62 chs.
For 1 yr to 2 yr make chs of length 36 cm
For 2 to 4 yrs make chs of length 38 cm,
For 4 to 6 yrs make chs of length 40 cm
The design I have choosen is quite dense hence it needs more yarn. For this cardigan I need 130 gm Ganga Glowing star sky blue (it's thin yarn) and 40 gm Vardhamaan millenium dark green (it's little bit thick).
Pattern: Make chs 62 + 2 loosely.
R1: hdc 1 in each st from third st. (62 sts)
Place marker after 8 sts, then after 12 sts, then after 18 sts, then after 12 sts lastly 8 sts remain.
We divide as, 8 front part + 12 sleeve + 18 back + 12 other sleeve+ 8 other front. Means 58 sts + 4 marker st in which we shall make V that is (dc1, ch1, dc1) in one st.
Note that we shall start each row with ch2 turn but will not count them as first dc.
R2: dc 1 in 8 sts V in next (V means ( dc1, ch1, dc1) in same st), dc 1 in 18 sts, V in next, dc 1 in 18 sts, V in next, dc1 in 18 sts, V next, dc 1 in 8 sts (66 dc-sts + 4 ch1-spaces)
Repeat this row 6 more times.
After each row 8 sts increased. After R4, 82 dc-sts, 4 ch1-sps. After R5: 90 dc-sts, 4 ch1-sps. After R6: 98 dc-sts, 4 ch1-sps. After R7: 106 dc-sts, 4 ch1-sps. After R8: 114 dc-sts, 4 ch1-sps. After R9: 122 dc-sts and 4 ch1-sps.
After R9 we check the distance between second and third corners and it should be equal to the required armhole.
After R9 we have, 16 for front+ 28 sleeve+ 34 for back+ 28 for another sleeve and 16 for other front part.
R10: dc1 in 16 sts, dc1 in ch1-sp, ch5, skip 28 sts of sleeve, dc1 in next ch1-sp, dc1 in 34 sts on back side, dc1 in ch1-sp, ch5, skip 28 sts of sleeve, dc1 in last ch1-sp, dc1 in remaining 16 sts.
There are 16+1+ 1+ 34+1+1+16 dc-sts, that are 70 sts. For the pattern we need odd sts so we increase one st on back side.
R11: dc17, dc5 in ch5-sp, dc18 sts, (dc2) next, dc1 in 17 sts, dc5 in ch5-sp, dc 17, in all 81 sts.
R12: dc1, (2 fpdc tog on next dc, bpdc on next) rep till end, lastly 2 fpdc togin one and dc1 in last st.
R13: dc1 in each sts.
Repeat R12 and R13, eight more times. (Till height from the top is 11.5")
Sleeve: Join yarn on back side near 5dcs in under arm. We work in round.
R1: dc1 in each st, dc2 in dc-space, increase 2 sts near underarm. (42 sts)
R2: dc1, (2 fpdc tog on next dc, bpdc on next) rep till end, cl.
R3: dc1 in each st, cl.
R4: same as R2
R5: same as R3 only make 3 dc tog in last 3 sts, cl. (2 sts decreased)
Thus decrease 2 sts after each 4 rounds two more times.
Repeat the pattern 9 times as in front side. Lastly we have 36 sts for wrist.
Similarly complete second sleeve.
Lower Border: Join dark color yarn at the lower end.
R1: dc1 in each st.
R2: dc1 in first st (fpdc 1, bpdc1) rep till end, dc 1 in last st.
R3, R4 same as R2.
Similarly make border to sleeves but in round.
Then borders of button band and button hole band.
Collar: Skippin four sts of button band join dark yarn in next st.
R1: sc1 in each st with 2sctog two times at each corner, skip last 4 sts.
Thus 8 sts decreased in first row.
R2: dc2 in first and last st, dc1 in each st between.
R3, R4, R6 same as R2.
R7: sl st in each st till corner, ch2, sl st in ech st, at corner ch2, sl st in remaining sts. BO.
The beautiful cardigan is complete.
The following video with English subtitles will help you in making this.
