Crochet Samai Rangoli 9: Handmade Home Decor: Samai Decoration

 

Hello friends, 

Here is the nineth and the last Samai Rangoli I had made this year beacause I have decided to make nine for Navaratri Mahotsav (Festival of 9 days). For details about this festival please read,

For this I used Tunisian crochet technique. Yarn is Vardhamaan Millenium and hook 

Pattern: 

Ring of chs 60 with cream color.

R1: (dc1 in 4 sts, dc2 in next) 12 times, cl (72 sts).

R2: Join green yarn in any st. ch1, [sc 1 in 3 sts, ch4, remove hook, insert in first sc-st and pass the working loop through this, (ring of ch4 is made)

ch2, insert hook in second ch from hook, YO get one st, insert hook in ch4-ring, YO get one st. Now 3 sts on hook, YO pass through 1 st,  (Yo pass through 2 sts) 2 times, ch1.

R2: insert hook in the vertical strand, YO get 1 st, insert hook in the last gap, YO get 1 st, insert hook in ch4-ring, YO get  1 st. (there are 4 sts on hook). 

YO pass through 1 st,  (Yo pass through 2 sts) 3 times, ch1.

R3: (insert hook in the vertical strand, YO get 1 st) 2 times, insert hook in the last gap, YO get 1 st, insert hook in ch4-ring, YO get  1 st. (there are 5 sts on hook).

 YO pass through 1 st,  (Yo pass through 2 sts) 4 times, ch1.

R4: (insert hook in the vertical strand, YO get 1 st) 3 times, insert hook in the last gap, YO get 1 st, insert hook in ch4-ring, YO get  1 st. (there are 6 sts on hook).

YO pass through 1 st,  (Yo pass through 2 sts) 5 times, ch1.

R5:( insert hook in the vertical strand, YO get 1 st) 4 times, insert hook in the last gap, YO get 1 st, insert hook in ch4-ring, YO get  1 st. (there are 7 sts on hook). 

YO pass through 1 st,  (Yo pass through 2 sts) 6 times, ch1.

R6:( insert hook in the vertical strand, YO get 1 st) 5 times, insert hook in the last gap, YO get 1 st, insert hook in ch4-ring, YO get  1 st. (there are 8 sts on hook). 

YO pass through 1 st,  (Yo pass through 2 sts) 7 times, ch1.

R7:( insert hook in the vertical strand, YO get 1 st) 6 times, insert hook in the last gap, YO get 1 st, insert hook in ch4-ring, YO get  1 st. (there are 9 sts on hook). 

YO pass through 1 st,  (Yo pass through 2 sts) 8 times, ch1.

R8:( insert hook in the vertical strand, YO get 1 st) 7 times, insert hook in the last gap, YO get 1 st, insert hook in ch4-ring, YO get  1 st. (there are 10 sts on hook).

YO pass through 1 st,  (Yo pass through 2 sts) 9 times, ch1.

Make ch3-picot, 

sl st in each vertical strand, sl st in last gap, sl st in ch4-ring.

R2 to R9 one petal made.

Then make sc1 in 3 sts and repeat till end. Cl.

Repeat this all around, the beautiful Samai rangoli is ready.

Crochet Samai Rangoli 8: Handmade Home Decor: Samai Decoration

 

Hello friends,

Here is the eight th Samai Rangoli. The flower looks just like Jaswand flowers. 

I used 4 ply and hook 3.5 mm.

Dimentions: Diameter outer 10.5” inner 3.8” weight 36 gm yarn, green 5 gm

Pattern: Ring of ch80.

R1: dc1 in each st, cl

First dc means ch3.

R2: (dc on dc, ch1) rep till end.

R3: same as R2.

R4: (dc on dc, ch2) rep till end, cl.

R5: same as R4.

Join red yarn in ch1-sp of R3 as shown,

Flower:

Row1: dc4 in ch1-sp, turn,

Row2: dc2in first st, dc 1 in 2 sts, dc2 in last, turn (6)

Round3: dc2in first st, dc 1 in 4 sts, dc2 in last, turn (8),

turn on back side, 

{dc 3 in the window (marked by white circle), ch3, skip one window which should be exactly on the same line as first window on which 4 dcs made, dc3 in next window}

join by sl st with  first dc and come to front right side.

Round 4: sl st in 4 sts to reach centre of the front 8 sts, 

TURN, dc 1 in 4 sts (on which just sl sts are made), dc1 in gap, dc1 in 3 dc-sts on back, dc3 in ch3-sp, dc 1 in 3 dc-sts on back, dc1 in gap, dc 1 in last 4 sts, BUT DON’T JOIN,

R5: ch7, (dc1 in next 4 sts, ch3) 4 times, dc 1 in last st. (five ch3 spaces, one petal is made in each)

R6: ch3 (as a first dc out of 5 dcs for petal), join at the green st 2 rows down as shown in the photo below,

(dc 4, ch3-picot, dc4) in ch3-sp, 

ch3, sc1 in the gap after 2dcs (out of 4 dcs), 

[(ch3, dc5, ch3-picot, dc5, ch3, sc1 in the gap between 2^nd and 3^rd dcs) in ch3 sp] 4 times,        

                                        

lastly join at green st as for the first petal.

The complete flower will look as,

Skip 10 dcs and make next flower.

Pollen: I used yellow yarn and made pollens separately and sewed then at the centre of the flower but you can also join the yarn at unworked green ch2-sp and make 3 pollen there.

Pollen: ch12, hdc in third ch, sl st in remaining chs, ch17, hdc1 in third ch, sc1 in same, sl st in remaining chs, ch12, hdc in third ch, sl st in remaining chs.

Attached pollen made as, 

Seperately pollen made as follows and sewed,

Skip 10 dcs and make another flower, repeat around.

Crochet Samai Rangoli 7: Handmade Home Decor: Samai Decoration

 

Hi,

 This is the next in the series of Crochet Samai Rangoli or Samai decoration. This is a simple and beautiful design.

I used Ganga Glowing star yarn for this, 6 no beads and hook 3.5 mm.

Its length is 11.5", width 8" and weight yarn 18 gm, beads 8 gm.

Pattern: Make ring of chs 60.

Round 1: (dc 1 in 5 sts, dc2 in next) 10 times, cl (70). (First dc means ch3)

Place two markers after 30 sts  with 3 sts gap, twice.

Now we work row wise in 30 sts on one side.

R1: dc1 in first st, skip 2 sts, shell of 4dc-puff in next, ch3, skip 2 sts, (dc 1 in next, ch2, skip 1 sts) rep till there are 10 dcs, ch3, skip 2 sts, shell of 4dc-puff in next, dc 1 in last st. Turn…

R2: sl st in ch2-sp, shell on shell, (ch3, sc 1 in next ch2-sp) 9 times, ch3, shell on shell. Turn…

We have eight ch3-loops.

R3: sl st in ch2-sp, shell on shell, ch3, (sc 1 in ch3-loop, sc1 in next ch3-loop) rep, lastly ch3, shell on shell, turn…

We have seven ch3-loops. Thus number of ch3-loops goes on decreasing. Repeat this row till only one ch3-loop is there.

Last row: shell on shell, tr 1 in ch3-loop, shell on shell, join the upper edges of shells by sl st, BO.

Inner Border: By JAri chord make sl st in each of the initial 60 sts.

For decoration you may make chs to join two pineapples from shell side or you may have beads.

I have used 12 and 20 beads respectively for this on both sides as shown. Samai Rangoli is ready as in first photo.

Crochet Samai Rangoli 6: Handmade Home Decor: Samai Decoration

 

Hello friends,

This is the next design for decorating Samai. It is very famous amoung my youtube channel group. Many of my friends made it and send me photos which I published on Facebook page of Kalopasak (my youtube channel). For this I used 4 ply yarn and 1.75 mm hook. It's diameter is 

Here is the pattern,

Make ring of chs 60.

R1: ch1, sc 1 in each st, cl.

R2: (dc1 in 3 sts, dc2 in next) 12 times, cl. First dc means ch3.

R3: ch3+6, dc1 in 4^th ch, dc 1 in base st, (skip 2 sts, dc1, ch6, dc 1 on edge of dc just made, dc1 at base st of same dc) rep 19 times, cl.

 

R4: sl st in horizontal dc, [step 1. dc 5 on that horizontal dc, turn little, step 2. dc3 on left part of V, turn little, step 3. dc 3 on right part of V, step 4. dc 5 on ch5-sp on back side of these dcs, (look at the first figure below)

sc 1 in the gap between the joint] rep till end, cl.

R5: ch3, join at the sp between middle of the petal as shown, ch6, sc1 in the mid of next petal, repeat till end, cl. (Insert hook as shown)

R6: Join green yarn in any ch6-sp. Ch1, [sc2, hdc1, dc3, tr 1, ch2-picot, tr1, dc3, hdc1, sc2] rep till end, cl

Glue beads in the middle part as shown.
