Crochet Rangoli Around Samai 1:

 

Hello friends, Here is the pattern of this Samai Rangoli.

I used 4 ply yarn and 3.5 mm hook. 

Weight 30 gm, diameter outer 10” and inner 4”.

Make Chs 64 or as per our requirement, only note that sts after round 2 should be in multiple of 8.

R1: (dc1 in 3 sts, dc2 in next) 16 times, cl (80 sts)

R2: ch1, sc1 in each st, cl (80 )

R3: ch1, (sc1 in 3 sts, ch7, skip 5 sts) rep 10 times, cl.

R4: Sl st till ch7-sp, [(dc7, ch1, dc7) (call this as fan or shell) in ch7-sp, join by fpsc on middle sc-st of R2] rep 10 times, cl. BO.

Join green yarn at the space below ch1-sp of shell (see the video below).

R5: sc1, [ch4, V in the middle unused sc-st, V means here (dc1, ch5, dc1), ch4, sc 1 in the sp below ch1-sp of shell] rep till end, cl

sl st till ch5-sp of V made. After R5 from wrong side,

R6: [(5dc-popcorn, ch4, sl st at base, 5dc-popcorn) in ch5-sp, ch7] rep till end, cl. BO.

Join orange yarn at sc-st of R5 as shown.

R7: sc1, ch5,[ (popcorn 1, ch5, popcorn 1) in the space between two green popcorns, ch5, sc1 in the green sc-st between two ch4,(note that ch7 in green should be included in this orange sc), ch5] rep till end, cl.

Join white yarn at ch5 sp before the first orange popcorn.

R8: [dc8 in ch5-sp before first popcorn, fpsc on the edge of popcorn, dc8 in ch5-sp (between two popcorns), fpsc on the edge of second popcorn, dc8 in next ch5-sp, insert hook in ch1-sp of fan and make sc 1 in the back side orange sc-st] rep till end, cl

The beautiful Samai decorator is ready. You can also use this design as a yoke for frock.

Hi,

Friends, in every festival or rituals in India we enlight Oil Lamp called Samai as shown in the first photo. 

We also decorate around that oil lamp (Samai) either by Rangoli or by flowers as in next two photos.

As I have already told that now a days every one wants instant things. No one has that much time to make this Rangoli. Some times due to spartex tiles floor of home we avoid to draw rangoli. It is also difficult to bring different flowers to decorate it. So one and only one solution on that is Crochet Meherap, Crochet Rangoli and Crochet Samai Rangoli.

Crochet Wind Spinner / Wind Chime and Handmade Rakhis : 75th Independence Day Special

Hello friends,

This year we had celebrated 75th Independence Day in India. A special campaign runned by Govt. of India "Ghar Ghar Tiranga" to invoke the feelings of patriotism in the heart of people and to promote awareness about the Indian National Flag. Due to this concept first time every Indian got a chance of hoisting our flag (because otherwise we don't have permission to hoist it on any day).

From 13th to 15th Aug all atmosphere was full of patriotism. Every one was attracted to these three colours of our flag, Orange, White and Green. On roads thricolour Ballons, Rakhis, Friendship bands, Garlands etc were seen for sale.

No wonder that if I was also not inspired to use these colours in my creations. So I made these three tricolour Rakhis.  They are very simple to make, just by seeing them anybody can make it. Then I also make Wind spinner, Doily, Plate decor (Mehereap), Toran etc with these three colours.

 

So in this post I will give details of Wind Chime / Wind Spinner.

I used 4 ply yarn and 3.5 mm hook.

With orange yarn I made chs with length 21", I have to make 80 chs.

R1: Join white yarn in first ch, dc4 in each ch, (first dc means ch3)

R2: Join orange in first st, hdc 2 in each st.

R3: Join green yarn at first st, (ch1, sl st in next st) rep till end.

Then make two big tassels and join them, thread 3-4 big pearls in that and sew it at one end.

The make loop of chs 30-40, again thread pearls and sew it to other end.
