Flower Bunch Once Again:

Hello friends,
Always we have left over yarn and a question that what to do with these small pieces of yarns. So I again solved it by making this beautiful flower bunch. Before this also I had made one bunch of Tulip flowers. Please see,

First I made the flower in fig 2, in which the petals were loose and hence the petals turned automatically after some time.
Then I saw Natagor Fynolson's flowers and I note that she used wire or insert wire in petal, in order to keep them stiff.

Then I tried to make bigger one so I took 8 scs for upper level petals and 10 scs for lower level petals, the out come is fig 3

But still I was not satisfied. Then I made both layers of petals with same number of single crochets and the result was good! See fig 4.

Pattern: In a magic loop make ch 1, sc 9, close by slip stitch (sl st) (9sts)
R2: ch 1, sc 1 in each st, close by sl st.(9sts)
R3:(Foundation for 9 petals) {ch 10, sl st in each ch starting from second, sl st in the first st (beginning st), sl st in next st} repeat 9 times ( 9 foundations for 9 petals) Fig 5.
R4: In this round we insert wire while working. Join wire and fix it, as in fig 6. While working sc let the wire be on the crochet hook as in fig 7 so that it is inserted in last round and the petal becomes stiff.
[Single crochet (sc) 1 in each st on both sides of the foundation petal. At corner we may have 1 sc extra, sc 1 in the beginneing st] repeat for all 9 petals.

Make two such pieces.

Sepal: With green color make ch 1 and sc 8 in that close by sl st. (8 sts)
R2: ch 1 sc 1 in each st, close by sl st (16 sts)
R3: [ch 4, sl st in each ch starting from second, sl st in a starting st, sl st in next st] repeat 16 times.

Central Portion of Flower: In a magic loop make ch 3 and 10 double crochets (dc), close by sl st. See fig 10.

I always saved what ever waste yarn I have ( may be very small in size). See fig 11. Insert some fiber or waste yarn in side it and sew it to the middle of upper layer of petals.

Then insert the sepal at the bottom of second layer of petals and fix it by sewing.

 Lastly assemble all parts and you will get a beautiful flower.

Make different colored flowers and have a beautiful bunch as in fig 1.

Rib Stitch Ladies Booties

I immedeately want to make them. But then they went in back of my mind. Now on demand of subscribers of my You Tube channel Kalopasak, I search them again and make a simple version of those shoes.

Yarn: Vardhamaan Melenium 4 ply, crochet hook 3.5 mm. It takes 65-70 gms yarn.

First take the measurement of your foot. First we make the sole. See fig 2, back side of the ladies shoes.

SOLE: Work sole with two strands (double thread)

If the length of foot is 9” then make chains whose length will be 5.7”-6". Here I made 22chs for 5.7” then added +3 as a first double crochet (dc)

R1: dc 1 in each st from forth, dcs 7 in the last st, dc 1 in each st from other side, dc 6 in last st ( 1ch3 dc is already there) close by sl st in third ch. (20+7+20+7=54 sts) Ch 3 turn, fig 3.

R2: dc 1 in each st, dc 2 in each st out 7 sts at corner, dc 1 in each st on other side, dc 2 in each side (out of 7 sts at corner), close by sl st, (20+14+20+14= 68 sts), ch 2 turn, fig 4.

R3: dc 1 in each st, (dc 2 in next st, dc 1 in next) repeat 7 times, dc 1 in each st on other side, (dc 2 in next st, dc 1 in next) repeat 6 times, dc 1 in last st (of ch3) close by sl st. (82 sts), ch 2 turn, fig 5.

BORDER: Back post double crochet (bpdc) 1 in each st, see fig 6 till end, close by sl st. Fig 7.

Here after we shall work with single thread. So cut one of the threads and hide the end. Now both the corners are same we can make any one as toe and any one as heel. But nearer end from the first st we make as heel and remote as toe. Fold the shoe and place the marker at the centre of toe part. At this st we have to make 3FPdc tog, skipping adjacent BPdc sts.

Rib st Part: R1: (FPdc 1, BPdc 1) repeat till 2 dcs to marker, last should be BPdc, now 3FPdctog skipping 2 in between BPdcs, (BPdc 1 in next, FPdc 1 in next) repeat till end. Fig 8.

After one more row of 3FPdctog it will look as in fig 9.


Repeat this row five more times then BO. After finishing the beautiful Rib stitch shoes are ready as in fig 1.

Crochet Pullover 26

Pullover for Girl / Boy (Any Size)

Hi,
I made this pullover for my grand daughter. I used 4 ply wool and 3.5 mm crochet hook. It's firnal measurements are,
Height 19", width 14", sleeves length from top point 18:.
This pattern is common, we can use for gorl or boy and if you have all measurements you can make pullover of any size.
As it is pullover type sweatre therefore we have to take measurement of head, say it is 20". Also measure required height and length of sleeve.

Not to start with make chains to measure total length 20" (equal to the measurement of head).
Taking care that chains are not twisted join first and last chs together and make  a circle.

For this pullover I made initial chs by double thread and I got length 20" in 84 chs. Circle made by joining with first ch. Fig 2.
Pattern:
R1: (ch3 (call this as first dc), dc 1 in next 2 sts, [thus 3 dcs, skip 1 st, YO insert the hook in next ch, YO and get 2 long sts, repeat 2 more times, we get 6  long sts on the hook and one original st, thus 7 sts on hook, YO and pass through all of them. Ch 1 to fix them, one petal or puff made. Ch 2, make another petal in the same st, see fig 3, skip 1 st] repeat till end, join by sl st in third ch. Thhis (puff1, ch 2, puff 1) we call shell.
R2: ch 3, dc 2 in next st, dc 1 in next, [puff in ch 2-gap between two petals, ch 2, puff in same gap, (dc 1, dc 2, dc 1) on 3 dcs of previous round] repeat till end. Note that here, we made 4 dcs inplace of 3 dcs in between 2 designs of shells. Fig 4.

R3: ch3, dc2, dc 1, dc 1, (5dcs made in place of 4 dcs of previous round), [puff in ch 2-gap between two petals, ch 2, puff in same gap, (dc 1, dc 2, dc 1, dc1) on 4dcs of previous round] repeat till end.
R4: As in round 3, only make 6 dcs in place of 5 dcs of previous round in between 2 shells. Then 7 dcs in place of 6 and so on ......
Repeat this till the yoke height is 5". See fig 5. The height we reach after 9 rounds when there are 11 dcs in between two shells design.

Now place markers for pointing out sleeves sts. Place the yoke so that joint will be on back side.
Next round: ch 3, dc 1 on each st till marker ch 4, join by dc 1 on front side st, dc 1 again on each st till other marker of slleve, again make ch 4 and join by dc 1 on back side st and then dc 1 in each st till end, join by sl st. Fig 6.
Measure the width if it is more than 14 then decrease 1 st in each of the 11 dcs in between 2 shells. In my case this happened so I decrease 1 st by making 2dctog in the middle of every 11 dcs.
If you are OK with the width then don't reduce sts here.
Next round: ch 3, dc 1 in 9 sts, [shell on ch2- space, dc 1 in 10 sts] repeat till end.
Repeat this round till the length is 19", see fig 7.
Border: Make border of puff st at the lower bottom.
ch 3, get long sts 6 as above, YO pass through all sts, fix by ch1, ch 3, skip 2 sts, join by sl st.REpeat this till end. See fig 8.

Now join the yarn at underarm as shown in fig 9.
Go on working as per pattern only at under arms work dc 1 on each of the 4 sts newly added. See fig 10.
After every 1: decrease 2 sts on both sides of underarm centre.

The complete pullover as in fig 1 is ready.

If you think that neck is more than sufficient to pass the head  then you may also add puff border on neck line also.
It looks so beautiful that I am so eager to see when my grand daughter wears it! Don't know when will be the next meeting 😔.

Plate Decor with Puff Flowers

Hello friends,
In crochet, Puff flowers are so cute and have variety of uses. Here I have one more plate decor (meherap) see fig 1, I made with puff flowers. In India and particularly in Maharashtra there is a tradition of drawing rangoli about the lunch or dinner plate when some one special is invited. Now due to busy schedule it is not possible many times so these crochet plate decors will be very useful in that case.

Make chains for the required length, here I made 15" long.
Slip st 1 in 4 chs starting from second ch, ch 4, sl st on each ch starting from second (that is 3 sl sts), sl st in the starting st, centre, from where ch 4 are worked. Again ch 4 and 3 sl st, forth sl st at cnetre. See fig 2.
Now make sl sts on main stem (4-5, you can vary that as per

your choice) and same leaf as above. 3 leaves made, Fig 3.
Then ch 9 to make another 3 leaves pattern, sl st 4 starting from second ch, ch 4 .....  Repeat as aboove. Fig 4. Three sets of three leaves made, fig 5.

Sl Sts 7/8 on main stem. Then repeat as you want the design.

Delebrately we kept some space vaccent or we can say with less leaves because there we can place our puff flowers. See fig 6.
Then place 4-5 puff flowers, the beautiful plate decor is ready.

Knitted Cardigan 25

Knitted Baby Sweater with Leaves Yoke

After so many days I have diverted myself from crochet to knitting and made this beautiful baby sweater.. This sweater is top down and yoke type. It's yoke consists of leaves so we may call it Lotus Design Sweater.
I have already made lotus design baby cap. Those who are interested may please see my video.

This sweater is for one year baby with height 12" and width 11". It was made in 4 ply wool with UK 10 number needles.

Pattern: CO 79 sts,

R1 (RS) to R4: All K

R5: All K when last 4 sts remain, YOK2tog (for buttonhole), K2

R6: All K

R7 (RS): Slip (Sl) 1, K6, [YOK2tog] repeat till last 7 sts remain, K6, P1

R8, R10, R12 … R18 all rows: Sl 1, K6, P all till last 7 sts, K6, P1.

R9: Sl1, K6, K2, YO K1, YO [ K5, YO, K1, YO] repeat 10 times, K2, K6, P1. (79+22=101 sts)

In row 35 increase 3 sts as under arm on both sides, skip 38 sleeves sts and join all other sts.

Total sts will be = 30+3 under arm+53+3 under arm+30= 119

Also in row 35 increase 1 sts at the edge point of each leaf by M1 method (Make 1)

After row 35, total sts= 119+11=130.

After 35 rows that is after yoke height is 3.7”.

[Next work stockinette st for 3”-3.5” then one row of YO, K2tog except first and last 7 sts.] repeat this 2 more times so that the further height will be 7”-7.5”. Hence the total length of the sweater will be 11”. Then make Garter stitch border so that the total length is 12”.

Crochet Bag 17

 Red Purse with Ring Handle

I have two metalic rings with diameter 4.5", see fig 2, which I want to use. So I made this purse with ring handle.


Pattern: 
Make 18” chains, here I have to make 80 chs.+1ch (Fig 3)

R1: sc1 in each st starting from second. (80 sts) ch 1 turn,

Place marker after 15 sts from both ends. Fig 4.

R2:Slip Stitch (sl st) in back loop of each st till first marker, sc 1 in back loop of each st till another marker, sl st in back loop of each

st till end, (80 sts) ch1 turn,

for back loop stitch, see fig 5.

Repeat row 2 again and again till the length of sl st side is 5.5” (length of sc side, means middle part is obviously greater than this), fig 6 and 7.

Last row: sc 1 in each st, remove markers. Bind off.

Cover the Handle Ring: If your ring is wooden or decorative then no need to cover it but for the simple metallic ring we have to cover it by sc in that ring (just like sc in a magic loop). See fig 8. After covering the whole ring, note that all sts are either outside of ring or inside (most properly outside) then bind off. Fig 9.

Cover both rings. You may cover by contrast color also.

Insert the ring and sew by folding over 1.5”, for both rings. fig 10.

Turn wrong side out and sew the sides, keeping half an inch open. Turn back. Fig 11.

Sew a beautiful show button or make a crochet flower of contrast color and sew it below the ring. 

The beautiful purse as in fig 1 is ready.
