Crochet Rainbow Doily: Holi Special

Happy Holi to all my friends. Busy? in playing with colours or making Puran Poli?

This is the new creation specially made for Holi. I used 7 different colours hence I called it Rainbow doily. Ofcourse I know that these colours are not in order, as they are in rainbow. You can take this in any order. This is also the best use of left over yarn.

Fiinal measurements,

Diameter 15.5”, weight 116 gm.

Yarn 4 ply, hook 3.5 mm.

Pattern: Ring of ch 8.

R1: dc 18 in the ring, cl (First dc means ch3) (18).

R2: dc2 in each st, cl. (36).

R3: (dc 2, dc1 in 1 st) 18 times, cl. (54).

R4: dc 1 in each st, cl. (54).

R5: (dc2, dc 1 in 2 sts) 18 times, cl (72)

R6: (dc2, dc 1 in 3 sts) 18 times, cl (90)

R7: dc 1 in each st, cl. (90).

R8: (dc2, dc 1 in 4 sts) 18 times, cl (108)

R9: (dc2, dc 1 in 5 sts) 18 times, cl (126)

R10: dc 1 in each st, cl. (126)

R11: (dc2, dc 1 in 6 sts) 18 times, cl (144)

R12: (dc2, dc 1 in 7 sts) 18 times, cl (162)

R13: dc 1 in each st, cl. (162).

Border: Join orange yarn at any st.

R1: [(dc3, ch2, dc3) shell in one st, skip 2 sts, dc 1 in next, skip 2 sts] rep till end, cl.

Sl st till ch2-space of shell.

R2:[ (dc4, ch3, sc1 to make picot, dc4) in ch2-sp of shell, fpdc on dc] rep till end, cl. BO.

Then join new colour at any sp (between two dcs).

Repeat R1 and R2 of border. Note that here we are working in the space and not in the st so when we skip 2 sts, we get 3 dcs in between shell-sp and dc.

Similarly join third colour yarn again 2 rounds below and repeat the R1 and R2 of border till we have to join new colour after R1 in white.

Here we make a little change because there are only 18 spaces so we skip plain dc in between two shells..

R1: [(dc3, ch2, dc 3) shell in one st, skip 2 sts again shell in next] rep till end, 6 shells made.Cl.

R2: [(dc4, ch3, sc1, dc4) in ch2-sp] 6 times, cl.

The beautiful Holi Doily is here.

Crochet Meherap for Chaitra Gauri (Plate Decor), Rukhawat Item

Hello friends,

Here is my new creation for Chaitra Gauri. It is very rightly said that Indian culture is full of festivals. Chaitra is the first month in Lunar Hindu calender. The first day of Chaitra is celebrated as Gudi-Padawa. Godess Parvati (wife of Lord Shiva) is worshipped for the whole month. She is symbol of Shakti (Power) and also known as Gauri. So this month is for the worship of Chaitra Gauri.

The decoration is made, the Gauri idol is placed and worshipped. Daily food is served to her and this is the Meherap (plate decor) for that.

You can also use this as Lace for ladies / girls top. It is very simple but most beautiful Meherap

Pattern:

I used 4Ply yarn and 3.5 mm hook. It's Length is 36" width 3" and weight 51 gm

R1: Ch3, dc 1 in first ch, (ch3, dc1 in the st just as in case of picot, see the picture below) rep till the required length.

We get loops, make sure that the number of loops is odd.

We made 65 loops, chains on one side and dcs on other.

R2: ch3, dc 3 in each loop, lastly dc 1 in last st. BO.

R3: join green yarn and work on right side. ch3+1, dc 1 on the middle dc-st, [ch1, (puff, ch2, puff) (called shell)  in the middle dc-st (out of 3 dcs in each loop), ch1, dc1 on the next middle dc-st] rep till end, lastly ch1, dc 1 on the last st.

Puff: (YO insert in the st, YO get 2 long sts) 3 times, 7 sts on hook, YO pass through 6 sts, YO pass through 2 sts,

R4: ch3+1, dc 1 on the middle dc-st, [ch2, (puff, ch2, puff) in the ch2-sp of shell of the previous round, ch2, dc1 on the next middle dc-st] rep till end, lastly ch1, dc 1 on the last st.
R5: same as R4.

6: Join yellow yarn and work on right side. Ch2, sc1 on dc-st, [ch1, (dc5, ch2-picot, dc5) in ch2-sp of shell, ch1, sc 1 on dc-st] rep till end, lastly, ch1, sc 1 on last st. BO.

The beautiful Meherap as in photo 1 is ready.
