Crochet Table Runner with Two Big Flowers Part 1 (Making Big Flower)

Hi,
Table Runner a very special item which we place generally on dinning table. Dinning table is a place where all members of our family are together, means this is the time and place to share happiness and joys. So along with the moment if we have such a beautiful table runner in between, it will surely add suger to our sweet memories of the moment.
Table runner I made before is here,
This time I made this big Table runner 4 ft x 1 ft. This is festive special Table Runner. Generally we always keep two sets of Table runner, Table cover, sofa set covers etc. One for regular use and another for Festval season for example Diwali, Christmas, Eid or Sankranti, New Year etc. So this one I made as a special table runner for occassional use.
For this I used Vardhamaan 4 ply yarn and crochet hook 3.5 mm. It's length is 4 ft. width 1 ft and weight 310 gm. Diameter of big flower 10".
Yarn needed - white 70 gm, pink for flower and border 130 gm, green 70 gm and all yellow shades for central part of flower we need 40 gm.
Pattern for Big Flower:
Popcorn with 3 dc: Make dc 3 in same st, remove hook from working st, insert in first dc-st, pass the working loop through this, ch1 to fix it. Only dc3-popcorn in first round, for all other rounds dc4-popcorn.
R1: With white, make (popcorn 1, ch1) 8 times, cl, bind off. (8 popcorns, 8 ch1-sp).
R2: With shading yarn, [(popcorn 1, ch1, popcorn 1) in ch1-sp, ch1] 8 times, cl, BO (16 popcorns, 16 ch1-sp).
R3: with yellow yarn, [ popcorn 1 in ch1 sp, ch1, (popcorn 1, ch1, popcorn1) in next ch1-sp, ch1] 8 times, cl BO. (24 popcorns, 24 ch1-sp).
R4: with shaded pink yarn, [ (popcorn 1 in one ch1-sp, ch1, popcorn 1 in next ch1-sp, ch1, (popcorn 1, ch1, popcorn1) in next ch1-sp, ch1] 8 times, cl, BO. (32 popcorns, 32 ch1-sp).
R5: Join pink yarn of petals. {Make ch12, sc 1 in each ch starting from second, (11 sts).
Petals in first round:
R1: Now ch1 TURN, skip 1 st, (10 sts only) work this row in back loop of each st. make sc 1 in 2 sts, hdc 1 in 2 sts, dc 1 in 2 sts, hdc 1 in 2 sts, sc 1 in 2 sts. At corner st insert hook in the st on opposite side, sc1 , ch1, then on other side work similarly but in the front loop left unworked. Lastly sl st in next ch1-sp, sc 1 in next ch1-so} Here one petal made. Make in all 16 petals.

R2: sl st 1 in 2 sts of first petal, [(ch1, sl st in next edge st) rep till corner, at corner, insert hook in the st on opposite side, sc1, ch1-picot then on other side also (ch1, sl st 1) rep, skip last st, ch1, skip first st of next petal, join by sc in next st of second petal (thus two petals are joint) and repeat as in R2. Thus make a border for all 16 petals.

Second layer of petals:
R1: ch2, join at the third sc-st on back side by sc, make [ch 13, sc 1 in each of the 10 sts from starting from second, skip last 2 sts, ch1, turn and work in back loop of each st. sc 1 in 2 sts, hdc 1 in 2 sts, dc 1 in 2 sts, hdc 1 in 2 sts, sc 1 in last 2 sts, at corner sc 1 in the st on opposite side ch1, then on other side work in the remaining unworked front loop of sc-sts and make sc 1 in 2 sts, hdc 1 in 2, dc1 in 2 , hdc 1 in 2 and sc 1 in 2 sts. Again ch2 and join by sc 1 in the third sc-st on back side of next petal] repeat from [to] 15 more times.

R2: Now don’t skip first st as we skipped for upper layer petals, make (ch1, sl st in next st) rep till corner. At corner make sc 1 in opposite side’s st, ch1-picot, then (ch1, sl st 1) till end.

Then if you want you can sew them from back side in order to make the height of all petals same. Third Round of Green Petals: Join green yarn on the back side of petal at third sc-st. R1: ch2, join at the third sc-st on back side by sc, make [ch 13, sc 1 in each of the 10 sts from starting from second, skip last 2 sts, ch1, turn and work in back loop of each st. sc 1 in 2 sts, hdc 1 in 2 sts, dc 2 in each of the next 2 sts, hdc 1 in 2 sts, sc 1 in last 2 sts, at corner sc 1 in the st on opposite side ch1, then on other side work in the remaining unworked front loop of sc-sts and make sc 1 in 2 sts, hdc 1 in 2, dc2 in each of the next 2 sts, hdc 1 in 2 and sc 1 in 2 sts. Again ch2 and join by sc 1 in the third sc-st on back side of next petal] repeat from [to] 15 more times.

R2: Now don’t skip first st as we skipped for upper layer petals, make [sc 1 in each st rep till corner. At corner make sc 1 in opposite side’s st, ch1-picot, then sc 1 in each st till last but one, skip last st, ch1, skip first sc-st of next petal] rep 15 times.
Make 2 such flowers.
In next post I will give the pattern for remaining part of Table runner.

Hello friends, this is second Diya Holder for Diwali. In the following video, I have also explained that how you can make it in any size or shape you want. In the description box of the video, I have given the link of the video which inspired me to make this Diya holder. I used 4 ply yarn and crochet hook 1.75 mm I made pots of two different shapes, one for vessal in which you can offer TILGUL to your son in law in the Sankranti festival and another different shape for candle holder. For Tilgul vessel, green base is made by increasing till round 9 and for candle stand the white base is made upto round 6 only.
For green height 6 rounds and for white 16 rounds. R1: In a magic loop make ch1, sc 6, cl (6) R2: ch1, dc2 in each st, cl (12) R3: ch1, (dc1 in 1 st, dc2 in next) 6 times, cl (18).

R7: ch1, (dc1 in 5 st, dc2 in next) 6 times, cl (42) R8: ch1, (dc1 in 6 st, dc2 in next) 6 times, cl (48).
Ch1, TURN, work on wrong side. R9: sl st 1 in each st.
R10:ch1, turn, sc1, in each sl st, cl (48) R11 to R15: ch1, sc 1 in each st, cl, (48).
Check that whether the required height is achieved or not.
R16: ch1, sc1 in back loop of each st, cl (48). BO.
Join red yarn at any st R17: ch1, sc 1 in back loop of same st, (ch2, skip 1 st, sc1 in back loop of next st) rep till end, cl (24 ch2-sp).
R18: [(sc1, hdc1, dc1, ch2-picot dc1, hdc1, sc1) in one ch2-sp, sl st in next ch2-sp] rep 12 times, cl, (12 petals) BO.
If you want you can also make only one round of petals and it will look as,
Join dark colour yarn on the unworked st as shown, R19: same as R17. But note that ch2 st this time should be in between two petals of previous round.
R20: same as R18. But make petal in between two petals of R18 and join in next ch2-sp. BO.

Crochet Lotus Diya Holder 1 or Candle Stand

Hello friends, Sorry that I am posting this Diya stand at 11th hour because tomorrow is Diwali and you may not have sufficient time to make it. But I have published this video 8-10 days ago, so those friends who watch Youtube videos on the channel Kalopasak may have seen this. Actual one of my friend (subscriber of my channel) expressed her wish of making such flower as Diya holder and send me it's photo. Then I tried one for myself and then made it's video. Thus it turns out to be super cute. You can use this as a Candle stand or candle holder also. You can also use it as a home decor or gift item. For this I used 4 ply yarn and 1.75 mm crochet hook. It's weight 20 gm and diameter 5.7”. Pattern: Make a ring of ch4. R1: dc 16 in ring, cl. (first dc means ch3)
R2: dc 2 in each st, cl. (32 sts).

Toran of Small Aakash Kandil, Door Hanging for Diwali

Hello friends, In my last post I have shared my pattern for making Aakash Kandil (Lantern). Actually my neighbour had Toran (Maala) of small akkash kandil made of paper.
They put it on last Diwali and the whole year it was there. When ever I have my morning walk, I used to see it. Two three days ago, when I was taking my morning walk I suddenly got an idea that why not to make such crochet door hanging of small lanterns as in above figure. Then I bought small plastic bangles with 1.5" diameter and a metal ring of 3.5" diameter.Wools used are yellow and green (Vardhamaan Millenium). I used 1.75 mm crochet hook for this. For one small lantern I am going to use two bangles of 1.5" diameter and one ring os 3.5" diameter. Pattern: R1: With green yarn, wrap small plastic ring by making hdc around. I need 32 hdc for covering the bangle. Close by sl st at last.
R2: Work this round in only front loop leaving back stitch unworked, [in one st make (sc1, hdc1), in next (dc2, ch3, sc1, dc1) and in next (hdc1, sc1), sl st in next] rep 8 times, cl. BO.
Join yellow yarn in any unworked back stitch. R3: ch1, sc 1 in back loop of each st, cl (32 sts).
R4: shell in one st [shell means (dc2,ch2,dc2) in one st, ch1, skip 3 sts] rep 8 times, cl. Sl st till ch2-sp of the first shell.
R5: [shell on shell, (here shell means (dc3, ch2, dc3) in one st), ch1] rep 8 times, cl. sl st till ch2-sp.
R6: [shell on shell, (here shell means (dc4, ch2, dc4) in one st), ch1] rep 8 times, cl.
In next round join the bigger ring of 3.5" diam. R7: [hdc 2 in ch2-sp joining the ring, hdc 6 on ring in between two shells] 8 times, cl. (64 sts).
R8: shell on shell as in R6, ch1, shell on other shell in R6.....
R9: same as R5 R10: same as R4.
Sew beads on joining of big ring. Join green yarn. R11: (hdc 2 in ch2-sp, hdc 2 in next gap) rep 8 times, cl. (32 sts)
Sew tassels of 7-8 inches in alternate sts. Make belt, for that join double green yarn in between two leaves of round 2, chs 50, join at opposite side and BO.
Make such 5-6 lanterns for door hanging and join them by chains with green yarn. The following video with English subtitles may help you. ETC: Enjoy the Creativity.
