Filet Crochet Door Hanging (Toran), Door Decor

Hi, As I have written in my previous post, I was making this Filet crochet toran (door hanging). It looks beautiful. First I saw the picture which is not in squares so I draw it's diagram as in fig,

For this project I need 160 gm 4 ply yarn, 110 small size beads, crochet hook 3.5 mm and 0.5 mm to thread the beads. Without tessels 100 gm yarn will be sufficient. Then write down the whole pattern. Filet Crochet Toran: We start vertically. There are 11 boxes and we are using 4x4 type [4x4 means in which close box means 4 dcs, 2 close boxes 7 dcs, 3 close boxes 10 dcs and so on. Open box means (dc 1, ch2, dc1)] in Filet crochet which I have already explained in my previous post.. So for 11 boxes we need (11x3)+1=34 chs. Note: C means closed mesh or box and O means open mesh or box. R1: 2C, 7O, 2C, (11 BOXES / MESH) R2: Same as R1. Extend by ch 5+3 (as first dc)

R3: 2C, 2O, 4C, 3O, 2C(13 MESH)

R4: 2C, 2O, 2C, 2O, 2C, 1O, 2C. CH8 R5: 2C, 2O, 2C, 4O, 1C, 2O, 2C. (15 MESH)

R6: 2C, 2O, 1C, 1O, 2C, 2O, 2C, 1O, 2C. CH8

R7; 2C, 2O, 2C, 3O, 1C, 2O, 1C, 2O, 2C (17 MESH) R8; 2C, 3O, 2C, 5O, 2C, 1O, 2C. CH8 R9: 2C, 2O, 2C, 4O, 2C, 5O, 2C (19 MESH) R10: C on C and O on O. Turn Slip St 1 on 6 sts.

R11: 2C, 1O, 2C, 5O, 2C, 3O, 2C. (17 MESH) After sl stitches and 2 close boxes it will look as,

R12: 2C, 2O, 1C, 2O, 1C, 3O, 2C, 2O, 2C. Turn Sl St 1 in 6 sts. R13: 2C, 1O, 2C, 2O, 2C, 1O, 1C, 2O, 2C. (15 MESH) R14: 2C, 2O, 1C, 4O, 2C, 2O, 2C. Turn Sl St 1 in 6 sts R15: 2C, 1O, 2C, 2O, 2C, 2O, 2C. (13 MESH) R16: 2C, 3O, 4C, 2O, 2C. Turn sl st 1 in 6 sts. R17: 2C, 7O, 2C (11 MESH) R18: Same as R17. Ch8. One pattern complete.

Repeat from R3 to R18 for as many patterns you want for the sufficient length of toran.

The main part of filet door hanging is done. Now if you want, you can make tessels along with ch6, one bead, chain 6 bead one.... Then make a tessel by wrapping the yarn 15 times and having a tight knot to fix it. Then wrap the yarn 4-5 times after 1 cm from the top of tessel and fix by knot, keeping then end of the knot till last end of tessel.

We make these tessels of different height, means with 1 bead, 2 beads, 3 beads, 4 beads and 5 beads, in order that the bottom level of all tessels will be same. So it looks beautiful as in fig 1. The following video with English subtitles may help you. ETC: Enjoy the Creativity.

Introduction to Filet Crochet: Making Letter OM and Heart

Hello friends, Hope that you are all well. Since last two days I was making this Door decor based on Filet crochet technique. Some important points I have noted about this technique - Filet Crochet, are, 1. This is one of the techniques in crocheting just as Tunician crochet, C2C crochet etc. 2. It is one of the old techniques and is used in making table cloths, curtains etc 3. Generally only one colour is used for this. Preferably it is crocheted by cotton thread. 4. Only two crochet stitches are used in this, chain and double crochet. 5. The designs to be worked out by filet crochet are given by diagram or graphs and not in written pattern.

6. The filet crochet designs are made up of boxes, called MESH. 7. Open box consists of (dc1, ch1, dc1) and Close box consists of (dc1, dc1, dc1). Let us call this type as 3by3 type. 8. There is another type of filet crochet in which open box means (dc1, ch2, dc1) and close box means (dc 1 in 4 sts) and call this as 4by4 type.

9. We can also work close box in place of open and open box in place of close as in next fig

10. Any design in cross stitch or diagram in boxes can be made by using this technique just as,

But some designs (though given in squares) which are specially for kids shall not be worked by this technique because it is done in single colour, where as kids like multicolour designs.

11. How many chains to start with for any design? is another question. Count the number of boxes at base, say "x". Then start with 2x+1 for 3x3 type and for 4x4 type make 3x+1 chains.11. 12. Then if you want, write the row wise. As I have written below the picture of OM, Row 1 and Row 2. In which O means open box and C means closed box. 12. When we make close box on open, we have two coice either make dcs on dc and chain or make middle dc in ch1-gap. 13. Two consecutive open bozes means (dc1,ch1,dc1,ch1,dc1) on 3by3 type. Two close box means dc3+dc2 and not dc 6. Then just to begin this technique I made one heart and one letter OM in Sanskrit (in first picture). OM is the special letter used in India. Table Runner for Beginners

Hello friends, How are you? Hope every thing is fine on your end. Here in India we have some relief hereing the news that from 16th Jan Corona Vaccination will start. Since ten months we both (me and my hubby) are totally in the home just like jail. One of the member from our village, brings every thing for us what ever we needed. Because of him only it is possible for us to stay at home totally. When both son and daughter are abroad, you have to take such intense care. Any way.... But the good thing is still in this long period, I never get boared and I always tried that all my crocheters and knitters followers and subscribers of blog and youtube channel also should not get boared. So in this period I made variety of videos. Variety in both, in usefulness and in its difficulty level. One table runner I have already made as a Dinner set, But some of my subscribers have told me that puff stitch is difficult for them so please show the simple one. Then I made this (in fig 1) which is very simple. This design can be used for stole, shawl, table cloth, bags, cushion covers etc Pattern: Chains required for the pattern are, multiple of 12 plus 3 that is I want 51 stitches. So make chs 50+3 R1: dc 1 in each st starting from 4th ch. (51 sts). ch3 turn,

R2: dc 1 in next 2 sts, [(ch3, skip 1 st, tr 1 in next st) 4 times, ch3, skip 1 st, dc1 in each of the next 3 sts] 4 times, lastly dc 1 in 3 sts, ch3, turn,

R3: dc 1 in 2 sts, (ch3, sc 1 in each of the 4 sts, ch3,dc 1 on dc-sts) rep till end, ch3 turn,

R4: dc 1 on 2 sts, (ch3, sc 1 on each of the 4 sc- sts, ch3, dc 1 on 3 dc-sts) rep till end. ch3 turn,

R5: dc 1 on 2 sts, [(ch1, tr1 on sc-st) 4 times, ch1, dc 1 on 3 dc-sts] rep till end. ch3 turn,

R6: dc 1 on each st and dc 1 in ch1-space (51 sts). ch3 turn

Repeat R2 to R6 till the required length ( we make 20"). We get 11"x 20" piece.

Then I also made two pieces of 3x4 designs. Small pieces are 9"x8".

Border: Join red yarn at some corner. R1: (ch3, skip 3 sts, sc 1 in next) rep along all 4 sides. For each pattern there will be four ch3-spaces.

R2: sl st on ch 3 sp, {[ch1, (dc1, ch3-picot, ch1) 5 times] in ch3-sp, join by sc 1 in next ch3-sp, ch3, sc 1 in next ch3-sp} repeat along all four sides.

The beautiful but simple table runner is ready.

Another Crochet Black Doily for Sankranti Festival

Hi friends, One more doily I made for this Sankranti festival. Its simple but beautiful. For this doily I used black and dark pink yarns in 4 ply with 3.5 mm crochet hook. Its final diameter is 14.5" and weight 65 gm. Pattern: Start with black yarn. R1: In a magic loop make dcs 15, cl by sl st in third ch. (out of 3 chs as our first dc, always our first dc will be ch3). R2: dc 2 in each st, cl (30 sts).

R3: (dc1, ch1) repeat, cl (30 dcs, 30 ch1-spaces).

R4: Join pink yarn in ch1-sp, sc 1 in same sp, (ch4, tr 1 in next ch1-sp, ch3, dc 7 on tr side, skip one ch1-sp, sc 1 in next ch1-sp) repeat till end (10 petals formed).

R5: Join black yarn at the 4th ch out of ch4 in the starting of each petal, [ch 6, sl st in the 4th ch of the next petal] repeat. We have 10 ch6-spaces.

R6: dc 9 in each ch6-sp around, cl (90 sts). R7: dc 1 in each st, cl (90 sts)

Crochet Doily for Sankranti Festival:

Hi friends, In my post on 15 Mar 2018 and 11 Jan 2020, I have written about the Makar Sankranti festival and importance of black colour in that.The colour which is not suppose to wear on any auspicious day but it is mainly worn on this Makar Sankranti festival. That's why I made these two doilies in which specially I used Black colour as a main colour. First fig shows the first doily and second can be seen in my next post. I used Black, Grey and White yarns for this and 3.5 mm crochet hook. It's diameter 12" and weight 60 gm. Pattern: Make a ring of ch4 with white yarn. Always make first dc as ch3. R1: (dc1, ch2) 8 times, cl by sl st in third ch (in first dc).

R2: (dc 3 in ch2-gap, ch2) 8 times, cl.

R3: With grey yarn make, (dc3 in ch2-gap, ch2) 8 times, cl.

R4: (dc1 in each dc-st, dc 3 in ch2-gap) 8 times, cl (48 sts)

R5: Join black colour yarn at any st, (dc1, ch1) in each st, cl (48 ch1-sp and 48 dcs)

R6: (dc 3 in ch1 gap, skip one ch1-gap) rep, cl.

R7: Join white yarn at the space between two dc3-dc3. ch1, (sc 1 in same sp, ch 15, sc 1 in same sp, sc 1 in each of next 2 sts) rep, cl. (we have 24 ch15-loops).

R8: In each ch15-loop, make (sc 1 in 7 chs, sc3 in next ch, sc 1 in 7 chs), cl.

R9: Join grey colour at second sc made in the loop, in each loop (skip first st, sc 1 in 7 sts, sc3 in next, sc1 in 7 sts, skip last st), cl.

R10: Same as round 9, skip first and last st, (sc7, (sc3), sc7), cl. R11: Join black colour in second st (skipping first sc st). same as round 10. R12: same as R11. R13: same as round 12. Bind off.
